The Antidote for the Guilt of Sin: Justified by Faith Alone
Christians need to know and understand the doctrine of justification by faith alone. This book is not an academic commentary of Romans. However, it is an exposition of the first 5 chapters of Romans with an eye on the doctrine of justification by faith alone. It explains the doctrine of justification in terms of the guilty sinner and the justified believer. While the contemporary church preaches justice for victims of sin, they avoid preaching the guilt of sin. The emphasis on social justice has produced victimizationalism; the church has ignored the payment that must be made for the guilt and finally the condemnation for sin. This book examines the biblical view of justification by faith alone by giving close attention to words like: faith, guilt, forgiveness, justice, justification, justified, law, sin, salvation and many more.
This work is not about redefining the traditional reformation's view of the interpretation of justification of faith alone. This book was written and published so every member of the body of Christ may read, study, and apply the doctrine to their daily lives.
Pastor Nat Rudulph said, "This is by far the most cogent and clear teaching of the doctrine of justification by faith alone that I have read. Murphy combines a theologically deep and profound exposition of the subject, yet with language and logic that can be understood by most believers."
The author has a B.A. in Bible from Columbia International University and Master of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary. Martin spent nearly thirty years in the class room, the pulpit, the lectern, the study, and the library. He now devotes most of his time consolidating academic and practical gains by writing Christian books. He is the author of twenty Christian books on topics such as apologetics, theology, and biblical exposition.
