HOBO RAILROAD IN LINCOLN, NH WELCOMES WILLYS OVERLAND KNIGHT REGISTRY DURING 4-DAY TOUR OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

Three Dozen Rare Automobiles From 1912 To The Early 1940’s Tour Northern New Hampshire

LINCOLN, NH – The Hobo Railroad in Lincoln, NH played host to three dozen rare automobiles from the Willys-Overland Knight Registry (W-O-K-R) today dating from 1912 to the early 1940’s as part of a 4-day tour of northern New Hampshire - June 22-25, 2015.

Prior to arriving in Lincoln, NH on Wednesday, the group toured the Hartman Model Railroad in North Conway as well as a number of covered bridges and local attractions on Monday and the Wright World War II Museum in Wolfeboro on Tuesday. Attracting automobiles and owners representing more than a dozen and a half states from across the country on day 3 of their 4-day tour, the group selected the Hobo Railroad in Lincoln to enjoy a relaxing picnic lunch aboard their vintage train before visiting Clark’s Trading Post for the afternoon. Thursday’s itinerary will take the group north to Bretton Woods and the Mt. Washington Cog Railway where they’ll enjoy a scenic ride to the summit of 6,288 foot Mt. Washington and back before gathering for a closing banquet at their host hotel in North Conway, NH.

Willys was a brand name used by Willys-Overland Motors, an American automobile company best known for its design and production of military jeeps and civilian versions during the 20th century. In 1953, Kaiser Motors purchased Willys-Overland and changed the company's name to Willys Motor Company. The same year, production of the Kaiser car was moved from Willow Run, Michigan, to the Willys plant at Toledo, Ohio. Although Jeep production was steady, sales of the Willys and Kaiser cars continued to fall. After the last Willys passenger car was built in 1955, Willys shipped all tooling to Brazil, where cars were manufactured from 1960 to 1962.
