Finally got around to building the last of the large panels that have been missing. One to fill the wall behind the new desk, and clouds above listening position and drum area. I might be imagining it, but the Vulfpeck video that was on all night sounded more focused as the first cloud went up. That's cool.

Meta is hiding a lot of new original music, but you should go find this tasty angular math pop wherever you stream.

Allergic to Feathers is the first single from what is now known as Higher Learning, the set of 2006 recordings that The Parallels .parallels.music recorded in the studio at Southwestern Illinois College.

Drums, vocals and guitar were recorded live in one take and a single additional guitar part was overdubbed. There's no bass here.

This track was mastered with the entire album here at Great Wave Recording around 2022.

The LP will be released August 2 of this summer.

Couple of days spent this last week on a special new record featuring , David S. Burk and David Lloyd. Really beautiful jazz/blues trio with vocals and harmonica. Everything was recorded live, no overdubs, most tunes done in a single take. The illustrious was in, doing video and still shots for the album promo.

A lot of good music is out on this beautiful Bandcamp Friday, and here are two such releases that were tracked, mixed and mastered here at Great Wave:

Greg Chako Trio - Standard Roots; Greg's 17th LP of his long and prolific career. Notably Greg's first record of jazz standards (his prior albums were nearly all originals) and most of the performances here were first takes, which was great fun to witness in the studio.

Ditner - This Ghastly Act; the first single from his upcoming LP The Longest Division (May 31 2024). Art pop/dark indie. This is the only uptempo tune among the rest of the album tracks - done with folk instruments and no electric guitars/bass (aside from lap steel).
