What do medical researchers do all day? Until recently, some of them arduously and meticulously tried to match drug molecules with potential diseases they could help alleviate. But after long and costly work, they’d often realize a side effect, metabolic variations, or other complications ruling out a potential match. It was back to the drawing board.

Technology has come to the rescue, quite literally, in the form of a drug discovery tool created at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital called ceSAR. It helps sort molecules 48,000 times faster to pick the best matches, the team reported in the journal "Science Advances." https://ow.ly/tCfg50XY5jp

When you step into Noche, the Italian-Argentinian restaurant on the corner of Madison Avenue and Seventh Street in Covington, you’re met with a vibe that lives up to its name. “Noche” means “night” in Spanish, and the space radiates warmth, with deep green and gold tones, soft lighting, and a full bar that’s both sophisticated and intimate.

It has a nightcap feeling, even in the middle of the day. It’s a setting that embodies what Chef Alfio Gulisano—the driving force behind Hyde Park’s Alfio’s Buon Cibo—set out to achieve: An elegant but approachable restaurant where pasta, cocktails, and conversation blend with ease. https://ow.ly/YxiK50XXUnq

When the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge closed its southbound lanes following a 2024 fire, Roebling Books & Coffee's Dayton, Kentucky, location experienced a significant drop in traffic and had to shut its doors. That is, until it reopened in November last year as Outsiders Artisan Maker Market. The reimagined space still offers Roebling’s beloved coffee bar and reading room, but now includes jewelry, clothing, home decor, arts and crafts, candles, and more from local, predominantly LGBTQ+ vendors. The makers receive 100 percent of the sales they earn, while Outsiders profits off of its coffee, tea, and books.

We talked to owner Richard Hunt and on-site manager Jaiden about how the bridge closure impacted business and how the two transformed the Dayton coffee shop into a beloved community market. https://ow.ly/p4qv50XXjtk

Hundreds of protesters gathered at Fountain Square on January 8 as part of a two-hour-long “From Cincinnati to Minneapolis: Stop ICE Terror” event in reaction to the death of Minneapolis resident Renee Good, shot and killed in her car the day before by an ICE agent. Within a 24-hour period and nonstop playing of the shooting video, public outrage was reaching a boiling point across the country.

The protest was organized by Party for Liberation and Socialism (PSL) less than a week after the organization held an emergency protest in front of City Hall against possible U.S. war with Venezuela. People of all backgrounds—parents, Boomers, activists, college students, kids, members of LGBTQ+ and POC communities, and many more—crammed onto Fountain Square January 8 to hear several speakers before marching on the downtown streets. https://ow.ly/Laar50XXj2S

What started as a way to have fun and spread creativity became a successful business model for Megan Pando when she opened Maker’s Social. The Cincinnati native dreamt of owning a business that mirrored the same artistic environment she experienced while studying fine arts at the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP).

As a server in bars and restaurants throughout her college career, she found inspiration to mix the elements of bar life with DIY projects. During her studies, she saw that the same service industry model could work for Maker's Social.

Tonight, she’ll bring her DIY vibe to the investors on the business-related reality show Shark Tank. The episode airs at 10 p.m. EST on ABC. https://ow.ly/7khX50XWRiU

"When I drive on Victory Parkway, I wonder why it’s called that. Who did we defeat? Confederate soldiers? American Indians? Was there some long march from Paddock Hills through Avondale and Evanston to Walnut Hills and Eden Park? Seriously, what was the victory?"

The Good Doctor investigates street names, memorial plaques on empty lots, and a dead mall’s demise. https://ow.ly/8ZQN50XWGHg
