Something I have stopped talking about because it has become so common is the SERIOUS amount of times non verbal children go to the ER or urgent care Why? Because they can’t tell us what is wrong. So we don’t know if it’s a stomach ache or an appendicitis. If it’s a broken bone or bruised one. If they really can’t breathe or they are just congested. Yesterday we spent the afternoon in Urgent care because we thought Lenny broke his hand after a fall. It turns out he is ok- but you just never know how bad something hurts when someone can’t tell you. That’s why programs like Medicaid Ohio waivers are so important. As trips to the ER can be over $1,500 a trip. Im sure we have visited the ER 30 times in the past five years at least. PS this is Ayden making a video on the phone while we were waiting for the Xray results because of course everyone was in attendance. It’s a good metaphor for how autism can feell for families- constantly spinning and trying to figure it out
