Last night was Scarlet Night aboard Scarlet Lady, and one thing I love is how INTO it Virgin cruisers get. It seems like most other cruise lines get halfhearted participation, although that’s typically a result of them not communicating theme parties very well.
With VV, though, *definitely* pack something red or you’ll feel a little left out. But in true VV fashion, anything goes. You can go full glam, cocktail attire, silly, totally casual, whatever… as long as it’s red. 💃🏻
They deck out the ship with fun decor and photo opps, and there’s a Scarlet Party up on the lido deck, where some cruisers even dance IN the pool.
VV leans pretty heavily into electronic music, which isn’t my jam, but I LOVED the Scarlet Afterparty in the Manor, where they played hip hop.
We walked in and the DJ was playing Tupac, so I knew I’d found my place. The Manor was jam packed, though, and Bati despises the club, so he tolerated it (and my shenanigans) for about half an hour, before we retired to bed.
Before the festivities, though, we enjoyed dinner at Razzle Dazzle. It’s historically been a vegan/vegetarian menu, with some “naughty” choices for us carnivores, and that’s still their approach with brunch, but dinner is now co-branded “Lucky Lotus” and it’s Asian fare. Our server Sunil was outstanding.
Take a look at the menu and let me know what you would have ordered?
Anyway, apparently, VV Is testing this Lucky Lotus concept before rolling It out fleetwide.
I’m still trying to stay no/low gluten, so I went with the ribeye, which was really good, although I ordinarily don’t love that cut of meat. Bati and Kelley went with the Asian foods and said it was all good, but nothing exceptional, and they both strongly agree that Carnival’s Chi-Bang is better.
The desserts looked great but were very underwhelming. I think with VV food, they excel and packaging and presentation, but the food itself is just okay. I know a lot of folks LOVE VV food and swear it’s the best, but it’s just not for me.
And the highlight of Bati’s evening? Getting called to the stage for a trick during the illusionist show, which was quite entertaining. 🪄
