First proto of a new guitar amplifier World Wide Amp. 18W Push Pull Magnetically Phase Coupled (MPC) 6V6, all tube 6072A, 6C4WA but a new high end switching power supply, 10lbs just what you need to carry in to a gig.

One of my first guitar amps. The Rob Fetters signature. I was told at NAMM in 2010 that I could patent the idea. Single 6550/KT88 running Class A/A2 to 25W using my direct coupled reactor follower design. Rob is playing a reunion show with the Raisins tomorrow night on the rooftop in Cincinnati with Bad Bob, Bam and RIcky. Picture my Ric Probst.

LunchBox DC12, 12W 6AQ7 Magnetic Phase Couple Push Pull amplifier. I had to make some room so no headphone on this one, but it does have the Direct Interface (DI) option.

Been playing around with some of these AC to DC switching power supplies. This one has a filament supply that comes on first and is very low noise. Then the HV is ramped up about the same speed as a 5AR4/GZ34 rectifier (about a minute). First up is a 12W 6AQ5 (smaller version of a 6V6) PP amp using a center tapped inductor as a phase splitter. A single 12DW7 (1/2 12AU7 driving the phase splitter, 1/2 12AX7 providing the input gain). This amp is killer super low noise. Also about six pounds lighter!

CES Triton New Century Edition in for a bit of a fix up 21 years later. Made like 60 pairs of these from 2000-2005. Massive 7Hz-38KHz at 14W output. Pushing the 300B to it's max at 36W idling (300B max is 40W). 6C45PI driving and 5AR4/GZ34 serving up the power.

Fire Marshall in yesterday at the office asked me to get rid of some of these boxes. Look what I found.... The Last Cosecant ever, this N2 is custom made with a custom power supply and 3 tested tubes (Westinghouse [Amperex] at 0.17dB match, Telefunken at 0.583dB match, Valvo 0.363dB match). These are all 3 of the types ever made, branded by many. MagneQuest output transformers and load chokes. In mint condition used at the last Florida Audio show. Other woods if interested. $3500

Quick update, migrating to MacBook Pro M4-MAX has been a bit daunting. Will finish the headphone amp with the MIO board first. The VM I use to layout circuit boards is kind of working on Win11-ARM so I can proceed.

Gang,
So I have been working on a MIO circuit board (Multiple IO) for the last 2 weeks. This has both analog inputs and a USB DAC on board. The idea is it can be used to create Preamps;
Minor: 3 differential RCA input, 1 usb DAC, 6418 DHT, RCA output.
Major: same but using WE101M/L I have tons of them.
Int: Probably 6V6 SE or some other pentode, 2 analog input + dac.
Headphone: same io as the preamp, output tube (417, EC99, 5687)? MagneQuest copper or silver option L or H output Z.

Jim I know what about phono... after these :)

Thoughts? Thanks!
Gordon

Almost two months of work on this SPDIF DAC. But it was well worth it. This thing kick a$$. The basic Pelham design was transformed by creating a SPDIF module that worked with the Pelham mother board. I had these crazy good VCXO's I used years ago and created a new secondary PLL and the VCXO drove the I2S from the SPDIF receiver into dual DAC chips running in differential mode (one DAC chip positive the other negative). Both chips running in NOS mode and driving 1:1 transformers (sums the signal, kicks out the bad stuff, nice low pass filter). The output of that transformer drives the 71A tubes and in this case into pure silver wound output transformers. Sounds great, even pulled out an old Philips CD player and was really impressed with the sound.

Update on the SPDIF I got the Frequency Lock Controller (FLC 14 pin microcontroller) working real well. Only 145 lines of code but with the Prism dScope III I can alter the SPDIF link speed and the damn thing locks in to 0.0001% on my frequency counter and to 8 digits the SCLK (bit clock = 2.8224MHz) and the received Master Clock (MCLK 11.2896Mhz) reads x4.0000000, max was x3.9999999 and 4.0000001. Jitter on this thing is so crazy good. Will build up this week and show the final. Can't wait to hear it.
