“During my 40-plus year career, I’ve been exposed to many of the most ‘popular’ personality assessments available to businesses. I was introduced to the nSight Success Personality and Aptitude Assessment in 2012 when I was a candidate for an executive position for a new company. Subsequent to being hired for that position, I began using the assessment for all job candidates, regardless of position. We were very successful in hiring very talented individuals who adapted to our culture quickly and I give much of the credit for that to the knowledge we gained through the nSight.
When the ‘war for talent’ really started intensifying in 2018-19, we realized that instead of using the assessment to screen people OUT of the company, we could use it to identify what development needs candidates had. By knowing up front what training candidates would need and the style of leadership they would respond best to, we opened up a much wider pool of individuals we could hire. By combining the knowledge of their needs up front, we were able to create individual development plans which could be started during the onboarding process. We found that not only were we successful in hiring more people due when other companies were struggling, but the retention of those individuals was higher because they realized they were getting the training and development they needed to prepare for higher paying roles within the company.
