University of Cincinnati Police Department (UCPD) responded to reports of shots fired at the Kroger on 60 William Howard Taft Road after a ShotSpotter alert at 2:38 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2025.

According to police radio, surveillance footage showed a possible male suspect in an orange hoodie fleeing west on Corry Street near Walgreens. Police said a window at Kroger was shot out, but no injuries have been reported.

Purchased by UC in 2005, the long-vacant facility (now known as the “The Why”) is set to reopen as a student life hub by fall 2027.

One amendment would repeal Ohio’s constitutional definition of legal matrimony as that of one man and one woman, while the other would mandate “equality of rights under the law” for citizens of protected classes.

On Oct. 26, 2025, University of Cincinnati (UC) freshman guard Dee Alexander announced that she will be out for the women’s basketball season until further notice. The freshman made a statement on her Instagram page on Sunday.

“To my Bearcat family, I want to take a moment to share some news with you all. Unfortunately, I’ve suffered an injury to my lower extremity that will keep me sidelined for the first half of the season,” Alexander said in her post.
