Since April, when city of Cincinnati Council voted to approve a planned development (PD) in Hyde Park Square, the repercussions have stretched far beyond the 45208 zip code with growing concern from many of the 52 city neighborhoods. An advocacy group named Save Our Neighborhoods Cincinnati has been gathering steam and collected 18,000+ signatures to place a referendum on the Nov. ballot. The zero hour looms for a decision on whether Council will rescind the One Hyde Park PD at their Sept. meeting or have it put forth on the ballot. For an overview of the project, the 501(c)(4) nonprofit designation, and comments from City planning dept. alumni, read https://buff.ly/IUEmSD7

Whatever your opinion of the deal-makers' meeting in Alaska, the time for a de-escalation, settlement, and shift to peace talks is now as destruction in Ukraine has continued all summer. Soapbox contributor Lorie Baker recently covered people who are often not heard from in a war zone; the trauma-informed caregivers who have stayed behind to help orphaned children and families rebuild foundations for their futures. Thank you for on the ground assistance from the Center for International Communications of Ukraine and Master Provisions in Florence. https://buff.ly/o8V2Dyf
