A 70 Year-old Chillicothe woman has died from injuries sustained in a two vehicle crash on U.S.23.
Ross County, Ohio – The Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a
fatal crash that occurred at the intersection of US 23 and DeBord Road, in Huntington
Township, Ross County, Ohio.
On August 18, 2025, at 3:35 p.m., the Patrol’s Jackson Communication Center received a
report of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of US 23 and DeBord Road. A 2013 Ford
F-350, driven by Ashley Williams, 30, of Chesapeake, Ohio was traveling southwest on
US 23. A 2025 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Carol Cunningham, 70, of Chillicothe , Ohio
was crossing the southbound lane of US 23, attempting to travel northbound on US 23.
Ms. Cunningham’s vehicle failed to yield from the intersection and traveled into the path
of Ms. Williams’ vehicle.
Ms. Cunningham was transported to the Adena Regional Medical Center where she
succumbed to her injuries. Ms. Williams and her two passengers, Beulah Mckenzie, 57,
and Abygail Williams, 10, both from Chesapeake, Ohio were transported to Adena
Regional Medical Center with Ms. Williams, all with minor injuries.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Veterans Affairs Fire/Rescue,
Scioto Township Fire and EMS, Huntington Township EMS, and the Ohio Department of
Transportation. Traffic on US 23 was reduced to one lane in each direction for
approximately 2 hours while the on-scene investigation was being completed.
The crash remains under investigation.
