What is going on in Logan, Ohio - Hocking County ?!?!?
First this.....On 10/28/2025 at 3:01 PM, Logan Police Department received a call regarding suspects attempting to steal items from the Tee Jays Carry-Out on E Front St. After a search of the area, Officers came into contact with the alleged suspects. While detained, one suspect later to be identified as a juvenile repeatedly failed to abide by commands, and during the interaction drew a pistol-shaped object which was in fact a BB gun. Officer Smyers, using verbal commands, defused the situation, and the suspect was arrested. Both suspects have been identified, and charges are pending with the Hocking County Juvenile Courts.
The Logan Police department would like to congratulate the officer for his quick thinking and verbal de-escalation skills to defuse a situation that could have ended poorly.
Attached below is the BB Gun that was produced (brown); versus a currently issued G***k handgun (black). either color is available from G***k, which is the most popular semi-automatic handgun sold in the US. We are urging the public, especially the parents of juveniles, that many of these airsoft/bb guns, are exact replicas of the actual handgun, and are identical in weight, dimension, and function and can be easily be mistaken for an actual firearm by law enforcement personnel.
Now this.......On Thursday, October 30, 2025, at approximately 12:09 a.m., a resident of Arlington Avenue in the City of Logan reported that several rounds had been fired into his home.
Responding officers from the Logan Police Department, assisted by units from the Hocking County Sheriff’s Office, arrived on scene and confirmed that multiple bullets had struck the residence. Several shell casings were located in the street directly in front of the house.
The area was immediately secured to preserve evidence, and a Logan Police Department Detective responded to process the scene. Numerous items of evidence were collected and have been sent to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) Crime Laboratory for further analysis.
At this time, no suspects have been identified, and the investigation remains ongoing.
