A huge thank you to all those who shared their work tonight and everyone who came to support!!! It was incredible to hear authors read their pieces and to see wonderful artworks up close. We hope you enjoyed the evening, and stay tuned to get a physical copy of the Spring 2025 journal at the final Scripps Tea of the year on May 7th!

Come join us at The Motley this Friday at 7:30 pm to celebrate this year’s journal, enjoy some yummy refreshments, and hear the published authors and artists share their work!

There will be an open mic following the readings of accepted submissions and the art show, so if you would like to participate in that part of the evening please sign up at the door!

Our Writing Workshop is this Friday, March 1st from 1-4pm at the Motley!! Drop by for a wonderful evening of writing and art! Get inspired by some of our writing prompts, continue working on your current pieces, mingle with fellow creatives, or make a collage with our spread of supplies!

Our Story

Scripps College Journal, founded in 1999, is a student-run literary and arts magazine featuring all types of creative nonfiction, fiction, poetry, visual art, music/video, and essays, including winners from the Marie McSpadden Sands Writing Awards. Through our print and online mediums, we provide a creative space for aspiring young writers and artists to share the best of their talent. We accept submissions from all students at the Claremont Colleges, and at the end of every spring semester, we distribute our printed publication. Enjoy interacting with other creative souls to share ideas, stories, artwork, and more on our page.
