Learning to pastor like a midwife helps us embrace what God is doing in our pain and see new life in unlikely places. Like a midwife, a pastor partners with God in the birth of new creation.

"Pastors often assume that their job is to protect their people from pain and discomfort, shepherds protecting the flock. But if the pastor is the midwife to what God is birthing in the congregation, that brings an awareness that pain is pregnant with possibility."

Shawna Songer Gaines gives a vision for pastoral leadership shaped by the wisdom of midwives. 'The Pastor as Midwife' is out now wherever books are sold!

We grieve the recent passing of Lamar Hardwick, beloved author, pastor, teacher, husband, father, and friend. Lamar devoted his life to advocacy and to teaching others about disability, race, and faith.

He's the author of 'Disability and the Church: A Vision for Diversity and Inclusion,' a book that practically and theologically reconsiders the church's responsibilities to the disabled community. We are deeply grateful for his life and work, and our hearts go out to his family and community.
