This image says so much about why A MAN IN THE MIDDLE means so much to Annette and me.
Shining a light on CTE is incredibly important to Annette DeJong Hull and me. Through our many years in athletics, we’ve formed lasting relationships with players, coaches, families, and friends whose lives the game has shaped. Along the way, we’ve also seen the very real physical toll football can take on players—sometimes long after their playing days have ended.
Football has given us friendships, memories, and relationships that will last a lifetime. But because we love the game and the people who play it, we also believe we have a responsibility to help tell this story.
That is why we feel we have to do our part.
Mike Webster’s story is bigger than one player, one team, or one era. His story helped open the door to a conversation about CTE that still needs to continue today.
We are incredibly grateful to this amazing group of people who trusted us enough to sit down and share their memories, experiences, knowledge, and personal stories for this documentary. Each of them brings an important piece of Mike’s story to A MAN IN THE MIDDLE.
We hope this film does more than tell the story of a legendary football player. We hope it raises awareness, starts conversations, educates people, and ultimately helps make a difference for the generations of athletes who come next.
His strength built a legacy.
His story can change the future.
