Bianca and Vanessa catch up with creative force/style maven Allison Eden live from Allison Eden Studios in Brooklyn, NY. Since Allison’s last ASP appearance she has launched a successful partnership with ZUO Modern that has paired her patterns as textiles with their unique furniture pieces, as well as partnerships to combine her mosaics with Hearthcabinet Ventless Fireplaces and Reflectel .

Hear about how taking chances and not being afraid to open the door has led her to these sorts of successful and creatively inspiring connections throughout her career. We want to thank Allison and Gary for welcoming us to the workspace and allowing us to get a glimpse of where the magic happens.

Bianca speaks with Marywood University Alumnus and Vice President of Sales (US) for Spacestor, Michael Markert about his varied experiences in the design industry. Michael has spent time working in design for large scale international architectural firms, as well as leading business and development areas for historic furniture manufacturers Gunlocke, Haworth, Knoll Inc., and now Spacestor.

Hear Michael and Bianca discuss the entire network that exists between client/designer/manufacturer/sales and so much more, and how design students might hold various fulfilling roles within all areas at some point in their careers and will continue to learn about how each cog of the wheel supports and depends on the next.

Located in the former Adams-Millis Hosiery Mill the Generator developed in partnership with Scm Group, The Generator makes industrial-grade woodworking machinery accessible to all furniture designers and makers, interior designers and architects — as well as small, medium and large furniture companies. We are grateful to Walt for taking time to meet with us at Congdon Yards during Spring High Point Market 2022 to speak about the relationship between craft and technology and what the future might hold for the partnership between The Generator and the creative forces of High Point.

The season premiere of A Student's Perspective as Bianca Bancheri speaks with Don Chadwick, one of the most renowned American furniture/industrial designers of the second half of the 20th century. His designs for Herman Miller, Knoll, and Humanscale (among others) have been recognized worldwide for their contribution to workplace design specifically. Always an innovator with regards to materials and exploration Don's chairs with fellow designer Bill Stumpf for Herman Miller, the Equa Chair and Aeron Chair were each named 'Designs of the Decade' for the 1980's and 1990's respectively by Time Magazine and the Industrial Designers Society of America.

Mariah Hoffman, founder of Micro Modula Design Studio, speaks with Katie Shea about the experiences which led her to design and build her personal ‘tiny home’ and how it led her to form the design studio to assist others in their downsizing journey. Micro Modula ‘explores the architecture of HOME, PLACE, and the SELF. From small-scale design services, to public space place-holding, to intentional lifestyle coaching, Mariah hopes that Micro Modula can continue to serve as a vessel for human-centered design solutions.’

Mariah and Micro Modula has been featured in Apartment Therapy, The Spruce, and Dwell; earning a finalist nomination for ‘Best Small Space’ in the 2020 Dwell Design Awards.
