Griffin Pond Animal Shelter

Griffin Pond Animal Shelter This is the official social media page for Griffin Pond Animal Shelter. Thank you for visiting!

First and foremost, we thank everyone who has adopted for choosing adoption as the best option! Here you will find some remarkable stories that will make you smile and help you understand why each and every one of us at Griffin Pond Animal Shelter believes in second chances. Often many of us, including staff members and regular volunteers keep in touch with some of the adopters because we all fall

in love with many different animals each day that touch our hearts for one reason or another. Bittersweet tears frequent our faces each day when we must say good bye to some of our special friends (who we bonded with while caring for them) on their special day when we get to send them off to a better life. I wish more people got to see the “before and after” pictures, or that priceless look on an animal’s face when you watch as he/she anxiously leaps into a car to finally go to their FOREVER HOME. Many people ask, "how can you handle working at a shelter?" True, most days bring each of us heartbreak but that "aha moment" is exactly why each member of the team at Griffin Pond Animal Shelter does what we do, every day.

Rosetta is sweeter than sweet . She’s a 48 pound sweet potato ❣️

This 1 year old girl craves affection and is happily taking cues from our staff and excited to learn.
She’s very eager to please and treat motivated.

She’s a stray from Taylor and we are hoping she doesn’t have to stay very long. She just wants to be a part of family where she can learn , grow and be cared for .

She’ll make a wonderful addition to your home .

She has yet to be dog and cat tested but she’s very easygoing .

Kobo is approximately 4 years old. He’s a domestic longhair who needed to good shaving so he’s a little bare currently.
He’s got such a sweet side but also an independent streak.
He will need a quieter home to decompress in to be the best that he can be !
The cats from his hoarding situation are doing very well in their forever homes and we know that he will be much happier outside of the shelter.

The month of September spotlights two incredible women making a difference in our community and beyond for homeless animals ! We appreciate you both so much !

🎉 MEET OUR EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH: SADIE! 🎉

We are thrilled to shine a spotlight on Sadie, whose dedication and heart have made her our clear choice for Employee of the Month!

Sadie doesn’t just care for our adoptable cats—she truly sees them, knows them, and loves them for exactly who they are.

Whether she’s soothing a nervous newcomer or celebrating a shy cat’s first purr, Sadie brings patience, insight, and genuine kindness to every interaction. She learns each cat’s unique personality and needs, helping them feel safe, seen, and ready to find their forever home.

But her warmth doesn’t stop with the cats—Sadie also guides potential adopters with grace and wisdom.

She listens carefully to what families are looking for and helps them find the purr-fect match, creating bonds that last lifetimes. Her thoughtful approach ensures that every adoption is built on understanding and love.

Sadie, your hard work, your big heart, and your unwavering commitment to both animals and people make you irreplaceable. You are making a real difference—one happy cat and one grateful family at a time.

Thank you for everything you do. Congratulations, Sadie! 🐾❤️

🌟 VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH: JULIE 🌟

Griffin Pond Animal Shelter
We are overflowing with gratitude as we announce our Volunteer of the Month: Julie!

From the moment she stepped through our doors, Julie has been nothing short of a godsend to our shelter, our animals, and our mission.

Julie’s dedication knows no bounds. She has opened her home and her heart—fostering, adopting (three times!), rescuing, and even helping place dogs from as far away as the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Her generosity extends beyond time and love; she has supported us through meaningful donations and has consistently shown up in ways we never could have imagined.

She has offered her home and property to our team, providing a safe, free space for fearful dogs to decompress and experience the joy of running without fear.

And who could forget sweet Billy, our long-term resident? Julie took him on a weekend outing, giving him—and us—a glimpse of life in a loving home. That experience was transformative, and we truly believe it played a vital role in helping Billy find his forever family.

Julie, you are the kind of volunteer every shelter dreams of—deeply invested, endlessly compassionate, and tirelessly committed to animal welfare both near and far. You don’t just talk about making a difference—you live it.

Thank you, Julie, for your unwavering heart, your boundless generosity, and for being such a profound blessing to the animals who need it most. The impact you’ve made will be felt for years to come. 🐾💖

Winnie is a 65 pound retriever mix who was recently abandoned in Scranton.

She was very hesitant upon first meeting us but has adapted well.
She could use leash manners and training.
She tested well with other dogs on premises but a meet and greet with any dog in the home is mandatory.

We have no information on her background , we can only share what we know about her while under our supervision.
She was recently spayed and she has a lot of energy so an active home would be best.

If you would like to meet Winnie , please apply here : https://www.cognitoforms.com/griffinpondanimalshelter1/griffinpondanimalshelteradoptionapplicationfordogs

Hannah is so beautiful but she’s so incredibly scared. She would do well with a family who had time to work with her to be able to trust humans as she was never really exposed to them.

She pretends to be spicy but after a pet or two her body loosens and she just melts in your hands.

If she were to have the ability to be loved on in a quiet setting she would completely come out of her shell.
She’s just a doll .

You will just love her silly little self !

It’s a shame when babies are so fearful, they are so adorable and have so much potential .

The sooner she gets out of the shelter, the more quickly she will thrive .
