Melody, Milo, and I recently stayed at Sandusky RV Resort, conveniently located about 4 miles north of the Ohio Turnpike (I-90/I-80) on U.S. Route 250. Those who follow our content will be interested in the backstory behind this RV resort.
RVC Outdoor Destinations owned several outstanding, modern RV resorts scattered throughout the United States. A few years ago, most of these resorts were acquired by Equity LifeStyle Properties (ticker: ELS), the parent company that owns Thousand Trails. Examples include Live Oak Landing in Freeport, FL, near Destin; Pigeon Forge Landing RV Resort in Sevierville, TN, near Great Smoky Mountains National Park; and Gulf Shores RV Resort in Gulf Shores, AL. Although these RV resorts and campgrounds are not currently part of the Thousand Trails membership, members may request a 20% discount when booking a reservation at these properties.
Sandusky RV Resort, however, was not sold to ELS, but it does offer Thousand Trails members a 20% discount when they book. Apparently, a marketing arrangement between RVC Outdoor Destinations and ELS provides for this discount. When Melody and I called Sandusky RV Resort to make our reservation, we received the 20% discount.
During our short three-night stay at Sandusky RV Resort, we had time to enjoy an excursion to Put-in-Bay in Lake Erie. The staff and manager, Kathy, are wonderful, and the property offers a pool, hot tub, playground, dog park, exercise room, several laundry rooms, several modern restrooms with individual showers, a few park models for rent by guests who do not bring an RV, and other amenities.
This popular area offers great shopping and dining, along with easy access to the Sandusky waterfront and Cedar Point. Be sure to watch our video when it is published on YouTube in the months ahead.
Be well,
Lou
