Join Zone 3 Press, the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts, and APSU Creative Writing in hosting Pulitzer Prize finalist Rebecca Makkai at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, in the Mabry Concert Hall at Austin Peay State University. As the 2025-2026 Roy Acuff Chair of Excellence, Rebecca Makkai will kick off CECA's 40th Anniversary as well as APSU Creative Writing's exciting year of events! This event will feature a live reading of Makkai's creative work with a Q&A and book signing to follow. This event is free and open to the public.

"Dr. Jessica Melilli-Hand, an associate professor of English at the College of Coastal Georgia, is published in CALYX, Hunger Mountain, Painted Bride Quarterly, The Minnesota Review, and elsewhere. She won first place in the Agnes Scott Poetry Competition three times: when judged by Terrance Hayes, Arda Collins, and Martín Espada."
