Zone 3 would like to congratulate past contributor Rose McLarney for her upcoming publication, Rubble Masonry! Her collection of lyric essays is available for preorder now at LSU Press, Amazon and through independent booksellers. Official release will be March 2026.

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Rubble Masonry is a collection of lyric essays that takes its title from the practice of stone masons who, rather than using materials cut to ideal measurements, work with found rocks’ natural shapes. It combines the rich images and musical language of poetry with prose’s capacity to share personal narratives and information from wide-ranging sources. Diverse content and innovative form distinguish a book that explores the places in which its author, Rose McLarney, finds herself as a woman from the mountain South—in history, national dialogues, public spaces, the natural world, and lineages that extend beyond an individual’s life on earth.

Writing Retreat Recap: As part of the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts (CECA) and the Roy Acuff Chair of Excellence at Austin Peay State University, the Creative Writing Program was excited to have internationally-acclaimed author Rebecca Makkai in Clarksville to host a writing retreat for students and members of the surrounding community.

Next week, Zone 3 Press and the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts will host award-winning poet Jenny Molberg for a free public reading and book signing. Jenny is a Berkshire Prize winner and Los Angeles Times Book Prize finalist whose work has appeared in some of the country's most respected literary journals.

We encourage you to stop by the Art + Design Building to hear from Molberg at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13.
