Hometown View

Hometown View Welcome to Hometown View! I’m Jeff Bennett, sharing a personal perspective on living local in small-town America.

From hidden gems to everyday adventures, I explore what makes hometown life special—one story, one view, and one hometown at a time.

You know you’re from a small town when this feels a little too familiar.
This one’s for the folks who kept waving, kept showing up, and kept supper on the table.

Feel free to share with someone who knows exactly what this is 😂

There are places you visit… and places that stay with you long after you leave.

At Christmas time, Patti's 1880 Settlement glows with old-time charm, soft lights, and a pace that reminds you to slow down and savor the season.
This is the kind of holiday tradition families come back to year after year.

The days after Christmas feel different.

The crowds are gone.
The noise fades.
And you’re left wondering if you did enough this year.

If that’s you — you’re not alone.
This pause isn’t punishment. It’s preparation.

You remember my video about the origin of Rudolph? 🎄
Tonight at dinner, someone brought out the original 1939 Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer storybook from Montgomery Ward. A simple story that somehow became part of all our Christmases. That’s how traditions are born.

Well… the In-N-Out Burger video sparked a mixed bag of comments.

Some folks love it.
Some folks really don’t.

And that’s honestly part of the fun.

So let me ask you—if In-N-Out isn’t your favorite burger, where should we go next?

I’ve been doing a little work behind the scenes on Hometown View, and the NEW website is now live.

It’s a place for longer stories, quiet reflections, videos, and a slower look at small-town life. Not everything fits on social media, so this gives those stories a home.

If you feel like taking a look, you can find it here:

There’s something about Christmas lights along a river that makes you slow down just a little.

The reflections, the quiet, the way the cold air feels this time of year…it’s a reminder that some of the best holiday moments don’t require tickets or travel plans. They’re waiting right here in our own hometowns.

This is why I love exploring close to home.

Christmas Eve looked different when I was growing up.

My dad was a Baptist preacher and a coal miner.
We’d start with a candlelight church service, come home to a fire so hot we had to crack the windows, Hickory Farms finger foods, and sweet memories that still feel close.

Some traditions shape you forever.

I’m at Ga***rd Opryland Hotel in Nashville, standing inside a frozen world built from 6,000 blocks of ice ❄️

It’s kept at 9 degrees, carved by hand over 12,000 hours, and disappears when the season ends.
Would you brave the cold to see this? 👇

This is your sign to slow down today ❄️🐾
Memories of a snowy backyard. Curious goldendoodle. Cozy fire inside.
Winter doesn’t get better than this.
Follow for cozy hometown vibes.

Okay… I finally get the hype. 🍔🔥

I visited one of the very first In-N-Out Burger locations in Tennessee today and ordered a Double-Double Animal Style with Animal Style fries—and wow.

Simple menu. Not expensive. Incredible flavor.
This was easily one of the best fast-food meals I’ve had in a long time.

What’s your go-to order?

🎄 New video drops Saturday at 7 p.m.

Christmas songs aren’t just background noise.

Some were written during moments of fear.
Some from personal grief.
Some to bring comfort when the world felt uncertain.

🎥 Part Two of my Christmas song origins series explores the songs that changed everything — now dropping Saturday at 7 p.m. on the Hometown View YouTube channel.
