Eye Olla Interview By: Renee Wison
The Background
Eye Olla and I are no strangers to one another. I remember meeting him and watching him grind for his music. He use to attach a video camera to this huge television screen and would perform in front of this camera and watch himself and his movement and stage position. If that ain’t dedication I don’t know what else is. I remember going one of his shows at The Muse in Nashville TN. He and his cousin/guttah twins underground artists, Geronimo & Tha Blowman, were getting ready to perform and the nervousness of it all too. But I salute anyone with the courage to get on stage and perform not knowing how people may feel. I’m glad that he volunteered to be my first artist that I interview . He is supporting my dream as much as I’m supporting his and that’s real.
The Interview
This was my interview and I felt as though it went great….okay let me not lie I was nervous as hell! But it being a familiar face I soon became comfortable.. Even though I wasn’t able to record this it was really enjoyable and I appreciate someone giving me a chance to do my own thing my way. With that being said, I had a surprise guest that came along, “The Super Producer” Law Beezy. He is a close friend to Eye Olla and his producer, that pushes him no matter what. There’s no holding of the tongue he’s open and upfront, but in the end only wants the best for his close friend.
So I had some questions, of course, so I grabbed a drink sat down and had a talk with the guy’s and began my interview.
So Eye Olla what does your music mean to you?
“To me man…it’s like expressing myself, I got something to say and I want others to hear it.”
So what do you feel like your music is saying?
“Basically the situations and things I been threw on this journey. Too many “ordinary ass n***as” in this world and people not just saying what the hell it is they want to say.”
What artist do you look up to and why?
“2 Pac, that n***a was on some other type s**t like , some real s**t. He stood out from others because he had a purpose in everything he had to say or do.”
At this point he had something to get off his chest to the public that he really wanted known…..
“Ollanati has nothing to do with illuminati , the term actually came from a fan when expressing how he felt about my music. I think of it as more as rules that we follow . But once again we are not part of or affiliated with the illuminati, so stop asking!”
I turned my attention to his producer to get some type of inquiry on who he is and and what is he’s about.
Law Beezy , I hear Olla call you “the super producer” Do u take that title? How did it come along?
(laughs)…“Well I’m very humble and try to remain that way so I don’t let titles go to my head. My name is Law Beezy , but the name “super producer” came from Olla. He knows what a day is like in the studio with me. I wont lie to you or tell u what it is you want to hear because I know he will appreciate that more than someone just agreeing with him on everything”
Olla jumps in….
“He is the only person I know where I have gone in the studio and recorded thinking I was the s**t when I finished. I came out and was like “yo, I’m done what u think?” And this man sat there and deleted the whole entire track and said “do it again.” All I could say was no one has ever done that to me or I should say for me. He told me every part at where I messed up and had me do it again. I respected that in him a lot. Not too many people sit down these days and critique you because there too afraid about hurting feelings or watching the record clock.”
Sitting here and interviewing them I felt the essence of being around these two men and how humble they were. They talk with such ease no cockiness or big head syndrome just themselves as people as artist…..
Law Beezy went on to say..
“When I first moved out here I tried making my self known I gave out beats and reached out to people and yet no one reached back or tried to at least show me around. But whenever I hooked up with him and started doing work with him, it wasn’t till then people wanted to reach out or ask about who I am. I also write songs I got a couple songs out on Sound Cloud and You Tube. “She do it” ,“Love Lost” and “Roller Coaster” are both on there and some new records of mine. Love Lost has actually been played 24 times on a radio rotation on Sound Cloud and its only been out for a day so imp very excited about that. I’m what you call a quadruple threat..(he said laughing) I produce music, direct videos, make beats and I’m an artist.”
Let’s talk about your song “Blastfame” also written as “Blasphemy” what’s the meaning behind it?”
“It actually has three meaning. If you break the word down you get blast for me . Meaning with all these backward ass and corrupt people in the world I still got my boys out here that will blast for me. Then if you break it down again you see blast fame. Its like when you start coming up fast and people start knowing who you are but there’s all these things to overcome its blast fame or fast fame. Then there’s the actual true meaning of the word blasphemy. This song stems from things back home and how I chose to handle things. I feel like I still go thru this everyday. When you actually listen to the song you will get a better understanding.”
If you had a favorite local artist who would it be?
“I couldn’t pick a favorite there actually quite a few I respect out here. K Nyne actually is one of those artist that supports other artist. He does a lot of leg work I can honestly say everytime I'm out in the mix K nyne also out here grinding. I like Cheeze when I heard his “trust issues” that was it for me like that man right there can flow. Also Bama Boy King and Reed from OHM is are great supporters too shout out to them.”
Any last words to get off your chest ?
“HAMG which is hustlers ambition music group and we just want to say: We here!!! “Oh, we just want you to know it’s really nice what your doing and very different because there is no one else doing this in Clarksville and we just want you to know we appreciate you.”
This was my first interview and yet I felt at home. I was more happy that they came out to support me like I am supporting them. Although I’m not some big time T.V. host or writer for a popular magazine I care just as much and strive just as much as anyone else who was passionate about music and giving it a voice to be heard. — with Renee Wilson and Law Beezy.
