The September issue of Clayton Living is starting to arrive in mailboxes around our community, and we’re so excited to share this month’s cover family, the Wenzels.

Many of you may know John and Kristyn through their deep roots in the community. Their story began here at Clayton Valley High School, and after college they found their way back home to build a life and raise their family in Clayton.

Their story is a beautiful reflection of family, faith, gratitude, community, and making the most of the days we are given.

Thank you, John and Kristyn, for trusting us with your family’s story. We hope you enjoy getting to know this wonderful family a little better in this month’s issue. 💛

Happy reading!

Happy Thursday, Clayton!

Hope everyone is surviving this September heat — it definitely still feels like summer around here! There are several great community events coming up, so here’s a quick look:

Saturday, September 12 — Clayton Day of Service
In remembrance of 9/11, Clayton residents will come together for a morning of community service. Volunteers meet at City Hall at 8 a.m. for coffee and donuts before heading out to projects around town. If your neighborhood or organization has a project that could use some extra hands, contact Peter Cloven at [email protected].
We’re also sharing a photo from our very first Clayton Living issue in October 2025, when we first highlighted this wonderful community tradition. :)

Also Saturday, September 12 — Clayton Makers Collective
10 a.m.–12 p.m. at Roadside 22. Come support local makers and enjoy fresh coffee and espresso from our wonderful sponsor, Relentless Grind Coffee Co. See the flyer for all the details!

Sunday, September 20 — Hispanic Heritage Celebration
The Grove Park — music, culture, food, and community.

October 2–4 — CBCA Clayton Oktoberfest
Advance discounted carnival ride tickets are already available at Sip N’ Sweet, Ed’s Mudville Grill, Skipolini’s Pizza downtown, and Hair’s the Place. Cash or check only.

Lots of opportunities to volunteer, support local, celebrate, and connect with our community over the next few weeks.

Stay cool, Clayton, and have a wonderful rest of the week!

Happy Friday, Clayton!

As we head into the Labor Day long weekend, a quick reminder that we’re still very much in fire season. Living next to Mount Diablo and our beautiful open spaces also means staying prepared—keep an eye on Red Flag Warnings, maintain defensible space around your home, and make sure your family knows your evacuation routes.

You can sign up for local emergency alerts and preparedness information at cwsalerts.com.

And looking ahead, a wonderful Clayton tradition is coming up on Saturday, September 12. In remembrance of 9/11, residents will come together for a morning of community service and work side by side on local projects.

The Day of Service was created as a way for neighbors to come together and work on meaningful projects around town. Rather than a general cleanup, the focus is on specific areas and projects that could use some extra helping hands.

Volunteers will meet at City Hall at 8:00 a.m. for coffee and donuts before heading out to different service projects around town. If your neighborhood or group has a project that could use some extra helping hands, please contact Peter Cloven at [email protected].

Whether you’re staying in town or heading somewhere else, have a safe and relaxing Labor Day weekend!

Happy Monday, Clayton!

The sun looked especially unusual over Clayton this morning—a good reminder that wildfire season is still very much with us. In our August Clayton Living bulletin board, we included a wildfire safety reminder to stay informed, keep defensible space around your home, and make sure your family knows what to do in case of an emergency.

We’re sharing the full bulletin board here as a reminder of a few other local dates, programs, and community updates as well.

And a quick early September special from one of our local sponsors: Snap Fitness Clayton is offering the first month FREE for new members who enroll September 1–14. Their ad will also be in our upcoming September issue, but we wanted to share it now so nobody misses the promotion.

Please remember to let our sponsors know when you found them through Clayton Living. Their support helps make our community magazine possible each month.

Wishing everyone a safe start to the week!

Now that the August issue has had a little time to make its way around town, we’re happy to share the Tillman family feature here as well. 💛

Holly and Matt are such a wonderful example of what makes Clayton special, and we hope even more people get the chance to read their story—how they found their home here more than 20 years ago, raised their family, built a life together, and continue to give back to the community they love.

You can still find extra copies of the August issue at several businesses around downtown Clayton. And as always, please feel free to share Clayton Living with your neighbors and friends!

Happy reading!😀
