🚨 PLEASE STAY SAFE 🚨
This morning was a little eventful. I received a very odd message from a realtor I don’t know, stating she had received a message via Realtor.com that the front door was open at my listing.
Immediately alarm bells went off, why are these people contacting another realtor that they don’t know about my listing. Supposedly they attempted to close the door but couldn’t. Why pass my sign in the yard with my phone number and not call me and instead message a realtor you don’t know??
I called the League City non-emergency line and Steve and I met the police at the house to check it was secure and safe. It was and may have just come down to the last agent not properly securing the door.
Two things: at no point was I entering that house alone. To all my female realtor friends, the policeman told me I did the right thing and they were happy to ensure it was safe. Don’t be afraid to call.
Secondly, please, other realtors let’s make sure we are securing people’s homes. It is our duty to ensure the home is locked when leaving. I always lock the door, put the key in the lockbox and try the door again. It’s habit now and something I do to ensure I’m never responsible for something happening after I leave.
I always say, this job is never boring! Just so relieved the house is safe and nothing untoward happened and grateful the people alerted someone, even if it was an odd way to go about it. 🙏🏻
