Freestyle rap has been an active, evolving, and highly engaging form of live content on Twitch—long before the pandemic sparked a wave of digital creativity. I personally launched my freestyle series in December 2019 under the name Scessions, and since then, the community has exploded.

Freestyling is not just a genre—it’s a live artform that combines music, improv, community engagement, and creativity in real-time. It blends well with Twitch’s interactive spirit and deserves its own official category to increase discoverability, support creators, and grow a thriving culture.

This Thursday, July 24th at 8 PM EST, BARBAR.IQ VERSES throws down a three-round Discord cypher meets live Twitch battle—and it’s packed with secret word games, wheel-spun challenges and axe-action power-ups that push your flow to the limit.

Round 1 might hit you with a Word Droppt, or a free Power Up if you're just a beginner

Round 2 spins you into a Multisyllable Mayhem or a battle
Round 3 is usually when people start using their axes and Gambit battles can happen or a sudden-death battles start happening—every point counts on our real-time leaderboard. It’s more than a freestyle battle; it’s a test of lyrical IQ, quick thinking and pure grit.

Slots are capped and this one’s for serious emcees who want to sharpen their craft against other bar burying barbarians.
