The UP "Big Boy No. 4014" is on its way to/through Johnson County.

Wednesday October 9 the "Big Boy" will leave West, Texas at 2:15pm heading to Fort Worth. As one of America’s most iconic railroads, Union Pacific retains its historical equipment and honors its storied past. Case in point: the preservation of Big Boy No. 4014. In May 2019, after a 58-year retirement and three-year restoration project, Big Boy returned to service and regained its title as the world’s largest operating steam locomotive.

Big Boy should pass through Grandview, TX around 3pm, if it departs West, Texas at 2:15pm. Great photo opportunity just north of Grandview as it crosses the old iron RR bridge on its way to Western Alvarado estimated 3:25pm. Next good spot to view is in Egan (FM2280 at FM917) at 3:40pm and then on to Burleson at 4:00pm. Station 330 in Burleson (Burlseson is a no whistle area) would be an exellent spot to watch it but not hear the wonderful steam whistlepass through Burleson on its final leg to Fort Worth.
All times are approximate...watch for updates as the time draws closer and Big Boy leaves West, Texas.

Amazing...there is not a resignation letter in Brent Batla personnel file in Keene and the council wants to replace him this next Tuesday! Is it possible Keene might be paying 2 city manager's salaries after Tuesday, if Foster and Belz gets their wishes for an additional agenda item on the Tuesday meeting??

He did write a resignation letter to the City of Burleson in 2019.

Debra Powledge, Director of Human Resources, has been promoted to the newly created Assistant City Manager position.

September 19, 2024 Leadership Transition Brings Exciting Chapter to the City (http://www.cleburne.net/civicalerts.aspx?AID=988)

The City of Cleburne is undergoing two important changes within its leadership team, highlighting the City’s continued focus on progress, excellence and employee development. Debra Powledge, Director of Human Resources, has been promoted to the newly created Assistant City Manager position. Out of more than 100 candidates in a national search, Debra distinguished herself as an exceptional choice. She has served the City of Cleburne with outstanding service for more than 15 years and has played a pivotal role in fostering a culture of inclusivity, employee engagement and forward-thinking strategies. In her new position as Assistant City Manager, she will continue to drive positive change among departments and spearhead critical initiatives for the benefit of the community. As the City celebrates this promotion, it is also an opportunity to recognize the outstanding contributions of Rhonda Daugherty, the City’s Finance Director, who is retiring after her years of service to the City of Cleburne. Rhonda has been the driving force of the City’s financial operations, guiding the City through numerous successful financial initiatives and ensuring long-term fiscal responsibility and accountability. Under her leadership, the finance team has earned several awards related to fiscal responsibility and transparent budgeting. While her expertise will be missed, we are excited for her as she begins this well-deserved next chapter. The City will soon be looking to fill the positions of Human Resources Director and Finance Director through a comprehensive search process. We are confident these roles will be filled by individuals who will continue to drive positive change and contribute to the City's growth and success, building upon the success of their predecessors. The Johnson County Genealogical Society will meet at 6:30 P.M. Thursday, September 12 at Dillon Depot, 302 North Anglin, Cleburne. You are invited to come at six if you would like to have refreshments before the meeting--say a hot dog or ice cream. My favorite is a root beer float.

Sheryl Rascher will present "Leaving a Legacy". Sheryl is with the Erath County Genealogical Society and a published author. In October, Marilyn Hay will present "Eight Things You Didn't Know about Family Tree Maker".

I took time this evening to see the move REAGAN at the Cleburne Cinemark. If you like reliving history and being reminded of historical incidents...you will enjoy this 2 hour movie, at least I did!

It is not a documentary...it is a movie made for entertainment.
