Meet Gloria, our Production Editor at Clemson University Press!

Gloria first joined the Press as a graduate assistant in 2022 and has continued to grow with us ever since. Today, she helps bring our books to life by overseeing copyediting, typesetting, proofs, author coordination, and the many details that take a project from manuscript to publication.

For Gloria, publishing is about more than books, it’s about preserving history, sharing knowledge, and amplifying voices. Her favorite CU Press title is Hawk by Vivian Ayers, and her favorite part of working at the Press is the people (with our taco parties coming in a close second).

We’re so lucky to have Gloria on our team and can’t wait to see where her continued journey in publishing takes her!

Meet Dr. Andrew Dorkin, Clemson University Press’s acquisitions editor! His path into publishing was what he calls a “happy accident.”

After studying poetry, earning his undergraduate degree from Illinois Wesleyan University and a Ph.D. in English Literature from the University at Buffalo, and spending ten years as a professor, he found the perfect opportunity at Clemson University Press.

His favorite part of the job is working with authors at the proposal stage, helping shape ideas into books, and watching those projects come to life. He also enjoys discovering new perspectives by reading work from fields he might never have explored otherwise.

This Juneteenth, we honor the voices, stories, and creativity that illuminate African American history, resilience, and empowerment.

From powerful graphic narratives to moving collections of poetry, these books explore experiences, identities, and histories that continue to shape our understanding of the past and inspire the future.

Today, we celebrate freedom, reflection, and the enduring impact of Black storytelling.

Last Thursday and Friday, Clemson University Press had the privilege of attending Clemson’s Golden Tiger Reunion, celebrating 50 years since graduation for a remarkable group of Clemson alumni.

We loved connecting with alumni, hearing their stories, sharing what’s new at the Press, and helping them reconnect with Clemson through books. Over the course of the event, we sold more than 100 books and had countless meaningful conversations.

As summer begins, we’re grateful for opportunities like these to celebrate Clemson’s history, traditions, and the people who make the Clemson Family so special.
