SCR Friends--

We’re very grateful to every writer who sends us work via Submittable; we rarely solicit material, so our submission base makes up the core of every SCR issue. We hope we’re publishing a thought-provoking, entertaining, and visually appealing journal—maybe (at least we’d like to think) that’s why we’re receiving more submissions now than we can handle.

Thank you to everyone who has sent us work during this submission period, and we encourage others to send work, too . . . but we’re going to have to close the submission window a month early, on June 15th, because we’ve maxed out our reading capabilities and we want to make sure all manuscripts get the attention they deserve.

Thanks for your support of SCR, and we look forward to reading your work—again, the new deadline for the spring ’27 issue is June 15th. The next submission window will open September 15th.

SCR 58.2’s cover art “Morning Coffee” by Megan Ingerslew was created to evoke the nostalgia of American illustration and paintings from the 1950s with an unconventional subject.

“Morning Coffee”was painted to create something beautiful and pensive, exploring the use of texture and color to invoke a pleasant mood.”
