Think Puerto Rico is just about sandy beaches and palm trees? Think again, rockhounds! Underneath that tropical paradise lies some incredible volcanic and karst geology just waiting to be explored.
If you're hunting for crystal formations, here is what you need to look out for on the island:
• Quartz Points & Shimmering Druzy: Hidden in the weathered volcanic veins of the mountainous interior ranges (Cordillera Central) and washed down northern riverbeds.
• Banded Agate & Orbicular Jasper: Check out the gravelly areas in Aguada for gorgeous agates, and keep your eyes peeled along the northwest coast for rare, translucent orbicular jasper formations!
• Calcite Clusters: The island’s massive northern limestone provinces are packed with hollow pockets and geodes lined with sharp calcite crystals and delicate quartz-calcite combos.
• Pyrite Cubes: Look closely in central riverbeds near old volcanic veins for that unmistakable brassy-yellow "fool's gold" flash!
• Halite Geometrics: Head down to the pink salt flats of Cabo Rojo to see perfect geometric cubes of natural rock salt crystallizing right in front of you.
🌿 Pro-Tip: The tropical jungle is thick, so let the weather do the heavy lifting! Hit the exposed river gravels, mountain road cuts, and rocky coastal shores right after a heavy tropical rain washes away the topsoil.

WTOL 11 NEWS out of Toledo, will be doing a story on our work in moving the Kelleys Island 1800s-era Jail Cell to the Kelleys Island History Museum for public viewing and photo opportunities.

Did you know Ohio has 88 counties?

Instead of blowing all this money to campaign, those candidates in the Ohio US senate race could have drove to each county and held a town hall in each one for 3 days at a time. That is how you win our vote the right way.
But no, you all think you donate and it helps a cause, or helps your future or your family's future. The reality of modern campaign finance is that it doesn’t go back to the people. All it really helps is the gas dock at the marina and their boat mechanic.

Let's start demanding real, face-to-face representation instead of just funding multi-million dollar ad machines.

I know this doesn't have anything to do with rocks but it's something that needs said. So just deal with it.
