This past week has been an incredibly tough journey. Last Thursday, I started feeling unwell and went to the emergency room, where I was admitted to the hospital after discovering I was going septic. It was there I learned that I am battling two types of cancer. The road ahead is long and daunting.
Admittedly, the reality is just beginning to sink in, leaving me in a very emotional state. I find myself crying at unexpected moments. I turned 40 in January and had the chance to reconnect with family members I hadn’t seen in over 20 years. Returning to Ohio, I never expected to fall seriously ill so suddenly.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported me during this incredibly difficult time. Though I’ve often felt disconnected, I am now truly seeing the strength of both my spiritual community and my local community here. Despite feeling distant from a few individuals, the overwhelming support has shown me the vast majority are here for me.
