Nine episodes down, one to go to finally finish the inaugural season of the “I Am Human. This Is My Dog.” podcast.

I made a few adjustments to the audio in specific parts because it peaked higher than I originally thought when I published it last night.

I hope to have Episode 10 (title tbd) at some point in May. There’ll likely be a gap before episodes of Season 2 - The Trial Against Steffen Baldwin, are released. I have a side project I’m working on that will be part of this upcoming season.

I’m satisfied with how Season 1 came together. It’s important backstory for what’s to come.

I met a man named Leonard Shelton after he was targeted by Lakewood (OH) police for walking an alleged pit bull dog in 2009 after the city enacted a ban. He passed in May 2023, but today is his birthday. So, to honor Leonard Shelton, here’s episode 4 of the I Am Human. This Is My Dog. podcast, which is the complete interview I conducted with him in 2009 shortly after he was cited.

In this episode, due to the recent passing of Leonard Shelton - the retired U.S. Marine, who was cited under the Lakewood pit bull ban.

I remember when I first started in animal welfare after the Vick case, and there was the feeling like we turned the corner on dogfighting. Let me just say, it is just as prevalent today as it was 20 years ago.

The painful truth is, it will probably never be eradicated. And, I believe we’ve looked at and analyzed these issues all wrong.

It’s only 20-some minutes, but really satisfied with how it turned out!

In this sixth episode of the inaugural season, I find myself in the right place at the right time, noticing the beginning stage of the movement to repeal pit bull laws in Ohio.

One year ago today Leonard Shelton passed away. A couple weeks later I dedicated an entire episode to him for my podcast I Am Human. This Is My Dog.

In that episode I planned on including soundbytes from when he interviewed with for my first documentary film Guilty Till Proven Innocent, but instead decided to release the entire interview for that episode - The Cost of Political Wars.

It is the most listened to episode of my podcast thus far. And, coincidentally, I started the next episode - Episode 6, last night. I hope to have it released some time before the weekend is over.
