Saturday Night Cleveland police organized a 30 unit police task force with ICE ,VIce and other units in unmarked vehicles to hunt down , harass and violate the rights of hundreds of mainly Puerto Ricans who get together on the weekends in various parking lots across the city to do a car show or show off their flashy or super tuned show cars.
While normally the police show up , turn on the lights and disperse the crowd ( why?) "It shouldn't be illegal to meet in a closed parking lot to show off your vehicle in the United States" But Saturday night was different, while everyone is use to leaving when the police show up Saturday night 30 police vehicles showed up (With shotguns , dogs and a helicopter) blocked every exit and at gunpoint pulled everyone out of our vehicle, did a illegal search of us and our property claiming they was ( responding to neighbors complaints) " no neighbors at Roses on w.65th st."
Said they was looking for guns and drugs at the car show. Said they "heard" guns was being sold there.
I was actually at this car show watching the cool cars with my wife. We actually heard about the car shows on the police scanner. We have listened to the police run these guys out of lots for the past few years , so we started going to see what they was so mad about and discovered it was really cool . So we go.
We heard on the scanner numerous times the police say they have to find some reasons to pull these guys over and have referred to them.as different names over the last couple years , some lies some anger.
But never did we think the Cleveland police would do and act like they did Saturday night. I clearly remember asking the 5 vice cops who surround my vehicle "did someone die" just from how they was acting. (Shot guns, dogs and helicopters) they said no.. just responding to a "complaint".
Well , i dont see them respond to any other complaints or even car jacking , robbery or murders like they responded to the Puerto Ricans car show on W.65 Saturday Night.
There were no guns or dope and every time we have been there we have never seen any guns or dope. Plenty of nice cars and maybe some loud music , fun , laughs and a couple burn outs ..But its a Sad City if this is how they respond to some youngsters trying to have some good clean fun and show off a car they fixed up.
I wasn't aware the city of Cleveland had such resources available to dedicate to Puerto Rican Car show while the rest of the city is being robbed, beaten, car jacked , r***d and killed . I expected more kindness and professionalism from CPD... We recently showed up with a large croud to put flags and stuff on the site where an officer was killed. They didnt show up with guns , dogs and a helicopter to illegally search us and violate or rights that night though.
As residents we would love to see our tax paid police department show this kind of treatment to the dope houses we report , the hookers and w***e houses on lorain and the drug infested areas they clearly know about. And we urge anyone charged with any crime on Saturday night at the car show to have your lawyer pull the last 2 year recordings of the police scanner to show how the police have escalated this situation over time with constantly harassing these people and now doing this for no reason other than "They dont like it for some reason"
How ironically it was to see they met up in a parking lot themselves to make the plan to run in and violate everyone's rights without a search warrant or any other reason Saturday night. This is how they spend the funds they get from the tax payers.
