We are currently seeking candidates for the following position:
Claims Investigator 603
DUTIES: Responsible for efficient case management of claims docket assigned; includes response to accident scene if required, investigation of file, other adjusting duties such as communication with all appropriate parties determination of case reserves, and closure or settlement claims filed against the Authority. Consults with Supervisor, Claims Manager, Director of Risk Management, or DGM Legal Affairs for settlement authority as directed by GCRTA policy. Prepares all material pertaining to the specific case and ensures that the RMIS and hard copy files are kept up to date; ensures that all individuals involved (including lawyers, employees, supervisors) are informed of new developments and claim status. For litigated cases, prepares case docket letters, attends pre-trials, depositions, arbitrations, mediation hearings and trials and assists GCRTA attorney.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have a high school diploma/GED. Associates Degree in a related field and/or business administration is preferred. Applicants must also have successfully passed the AIC 33 and AIC 36 Insurance Institute of America adjusting courses or will be given up to 18 months to take and pass such courses after entering the position. Applicants must have three (3) years of verifiable progressive experience in accident claims investigator/adjuster duties, including negotiation of claims with claimants and/or their attorneys. Duties require a basic knowledge of medical and legal terminology. Must possess excellent oral and written communication abilities including legal document writing. Must have strong interpersonal skills capable of dealing with all levels of personnel including claimants, attorneys and other involved parties. Must have good computer skills and the ability to effectively learn new software in a timely manner. Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License with a clean driving record. The performance of these duties may be required at any time of the day or night, any day and night of the week. The position is a bargaining unit position.
Examination Information: Candidates selected to participate in the hiring process will be notified of the exact time and place of the examination. The examination process will consist of three parts: a written examination, performance assessment and/or interview, and record evaluation (for internal candidates only). Candidates must attain a minimum of 70% on all parts of the process, except 60% on the interview portion, to move forward in the process.
Weights for a final score will be assigned as follows: Weights for a final score will be assigned as follows for internal candidates: Written 50%, Performance Assessment and/or Interview 35%, Record Evaluation 15%. All candidates must score a minimum composite score of 70% in order to establish eligibility for the portion. Internal candidates must meet all record evaluation criteria in order to gain the 15% weighting. Records evaluation information includes a review of the following:

· 5 or more absence occurrences
· 2 or more AWOL or absence control suspensions
· 3 or more active written reminders (regardless of the level)
· 5 or more misses (regardless of whether they are active or not active)
· 4 or more active tardies
· Drug or alcohol suspension
· Commercial Drivers License (CDL) suspension
· Active Decision Making Leave (DML)
Wage Rate: $18.76 per hour
