FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Strasburg, Pennsylvania – November 7, 2025

Virtual Railfan, a leading provider of live railcam streams for railroad enthusiasts worldwide, is pleased to announce the return of its livestreaming operations at the Strasburg Rail Road’s historic J Tower. After a period of evaluation and planning, Virtual Railfan and the world-famous Strasburg Rail Road have reached an agreement allowing streaming to resume at this iconic location.

This renewed partnership follows nearly a year of collaboration to ensure a stable and reliable streaming configuration. The return of the J Tower camera allows viewers around the world to once again experience the charm and activity of one of America’s most beloved heritage railroads from a uniquely historic vantage point.

In addition, Virtual Railfan continues to operate its long-standing PTZ camera in Paradise, Pennsylvania, where it has streamed since July 27, 2019. This location at Leaman Place is at the east end of the Strasburg Rail Road and captures the interchange where its steam-powered excursions meet Amtrak’s bustling Philadelphia–Harrisburg Main Line (Keystone Corridor), as well as Norfolk Southern local freight operations. The junction sees approximately 30 daily train movements.

ABOUT THE STRASBURG RAIL ROAD

Chartered in 1832, the Strasburg Rail Road is the oldest continuously operating short line railroad in the United States. Originally built to connect Strasburg with the Philadelphia & Columbia Railroad, it played a vital role in supporting local agriculture and trade. The nearby junction at Leaman Place later developed into a key transfer point for passengers connecting to mainline service.

Today, the Strasburg Rail Road remains a living history experience, offering regular steam-powered excursions through picturesque Lancaster County. Its operating fleet includes historic locomotives such as Nos. 89, 90, and 475. The railroad also hosts popular seasonal and family events, including the annual appearances of Thomas the Tank Engine and Percy, drawing railfans and visitors from across the nation.
