🎬 Now Casting: Freelance Social Media Marketing Manager (Indie Film & Festivals)
Type: Part-time Contract
Location: Remote
Hours: Flexible (approx. 10–15 hours/week, with scaling hours around festival dates)
The Role
Are you a cinephile who knows how to turn festival buzz into digital fandom? We are seeking a creative, strategic, and film-obsessed Social Media Marketing Manager to lead the digital campaigns for our upcoming independent film slate and festival run.
You’ll be responsible for capturing the unique voice of our projects, building an engaged community of indie film lovers, and driving awareness from the first teaser trailer all the way to the red carpet.
What You’ll Do
Campaign Strategy: Develop and execute tailored social media strategies for independent film releases, festival submissions, and promotional events.
Content Creation: Craft compelling, high-engagement content (reels, TikToks, BTS features, static posts) utilizing existing film assets, production stills, and interview footage.
Community Management: Engage with film critics, festival organizers, influencers, and indie film communities to amplify our reach.
Event Promotion: Manage live-coverage strategy, countdowns, and audience engagement leading up to and during key film festivals.
Analytics: Track engagement and adjust strategies to maximize digital footprint and drive ticket sales/streaming views.
What We’re Looking For
Film Industry Experience: You aren't just a marketer; you understand the indie film landscape, the festival circuit (Sundance, SXSW, TIFF, etc.), and how to pitch to cinephile audiences.
Social Savvy: Deep knowledge of Instagram, TikTok, Letterboxd, X, and YouTube algorithm trends.
Resourcefulness: Ability to take raw behind-the-scenes footage and turn it into polished, viral-ready content.
Autonomy: This is a contract role. We need a self-starter who can manage deadlines independently while collaborating closely with directors and producers.
Bonus Points If You Have:
Existing relationships with film influencers, bloggers, or festival press.
Basic video editing skills (CapCut, Premiere, or Canva Pro).
A killer Letterboxd account.
