Elvis Presley and David Bowie shared a deep, though largely unfulfilled, connection: both were born on January 8th, were RCA label mates in the 70s, and Bowie deeply admired Elvis as a hero, even offering him the song "Golden Years," which Elvis turned down, a missed collaboration that later resonated with Bowie's own farewell album, "Blackstar", named after Elvis' movie/album "Flaming Star" which was originally called.... "Blackstar". Movie title was renamed, song re-sung.

Happy 91st birthday to the greatest entertainer in history, ELVIS PRESLEY. STILL the single artist record holder for the most No.1 Billboard singles (18), and the most Top 40 hits (108). He has more Gold and Platinum records than any artist/band.

He's the No.1 selling artist worldwide, over 1 billion. Take that Taylor Swift!

His 1957 Christmas album still No.1 in sales, over 20M. Three Grammys, all for gospel albums, 29 films, two documentaries one of which, Elvis On Tour (1972) for a Golden Globe. His 1968 Comeback Special not only put his career back on track, but it became the inspiration and template for MTVs "Unplugged" series. His 1973 Aloha from Hawaii the only single artist worldwide broadcast, over 1.4 Billion viewed. The album was his last Top 10. Yet, it's still a top live album seller to this day.
