Still two songs on the Dutch Hit-Tracks Top 100 chart for Crossroad Overdrive! “Whipping Post”lands at #42 in its 13th week! And “Love the One You’re With” is in the Top 20 at #19 in its 9th week! Rock and roll.

HIT-TRACKS TOP 100 - YEAR 48 - WEEK 4.
Hi everyone! The new live version of the Yes classic 'And You And I' by Jon Anderson & The Band Geeks is number one this week. David Gilmour's 'A Single Spark' is one down to number two. 'A Story Never Told, Opeth's beautiful closing piece of the album "The Last Will And Testament" is at number 3. Sault's 'Pray For Me' and DeWolff's 'Let's Stay Together' are both new in the top 10.

After three weeks with relatively few new arrivals, this time we have no less than 29 (!). With the warning a 'Big Change Is Coming', Neil Young is the highest of these, followed by The Rumjacks and Ken Casey of the Dropkicks Murphys, who have never been so cold, and 'Rushmere' by Mumford and Sons. With banjo! Among the newcomers we find a number of artists that we have not seen for a while, such as Skunk Anansie, Marcia 'your love still brings me to my knees' Hines, Crooked Eye Tommy and Kensington (with a new singer). There are also a few that we can welcome to our list for the first time: The Rumjacks, Citrus Sun, Stg. Slick, Mark Ambor, Lola Young, Tomislav Goluban, and Ed Alstrom.

Speaking of that last one. Ed Alstrom Music’s album "Flee Though None Pursue" is our album of the week. New Jersey's Ed Alstrom has a long and illustrious career in all types of music, as well as formidable talent in many different areas. Here, he fires an opening salvo into Blues community with this first self-produced and recorded effort, an album of 18 songs that ranges from straight blues to adventurous variations on it, to a few things that are not blues at all. Ed recorded this at home and played most of the instruments, in addition to writing and singing lead on all the tracks. He has significant guest contributions from hyper talented friends: guitarist Robert Hill, saxophonist Jerry Vivino, the harmonica of Rob Paparozzi, sInger Ula Hedwig, and three drummers: Don Guinta, Frank Pagano and Dennis Diken (of The Smithereens). Still two Crossroad Overdrive tracks in the top-25 of the Dutch Hit-Tracks Top 100 chart!!

HIT-TRACKS TOP 100 - YEAR 48 - WEEK 2.
Hi everyone! With 'Counties & Countries', Jon Anderson & The Band Geeks have their third #1 hit from the album "True". Their new live version of the Yes classic 'And You And I' jumps to number 10. And we have even more good news for Yes fans, because the album "Live - Perpetual Change" will be released on March 14. The track list includes 'Close To The Edge', 'Starship Trooper', 'Awaken' and 'Roundabout'. Remakes are usually not recommended, but due to the success of the first single we are really looking forward to it.

Joe Bonamassa's live track 'Breaking Up Somebody's Home' ft. Eric Gales & John McLaughlin is now number 2. DeWolff's 'Natural Woman' remains another week at #3. 'Pray For Me' of British collective Sault is the highest of only 10 entrants. It's a track of their new album "Acts Of Faith".

One of the other newcomers is 'Don't Let Nobody' of Emilia Sisco with production team and studio band Cold Diamond & Mink. One of the nice tracks on the album "Introducing Emilia Sisco". With her powerhouse vocals and a remarkable ability to weave narratives in her songs, Emilia Sisco effortlessly fuses soul, jazz and blues into a mesmerizing tapestry of sound. Hailing from Helsinki, Finland, Emilia has embarked on a journey that's firmly establishing her as one of the most promising voices in the contemporary soul scene. In our Album End of Year List you could see that Joe Bonamassa (Live At The Hollywood Bowl With Orchestra), David Gilmour (Luck And Strange), Walter Trout (Broken), Jon Anderson & The Band Geeks (True), and Beth Hart (You Still Got Me) in particular did very well. From these albums, the Big 5 scored a total of 22 Top 10 hits and another 10 from other albums.

These five can also be found in the top 10 again in the first week of '25. Joe Bonamassa's live track 'Breaking Up Somebody's Home' ft. Eric Gales & John McLaughlin is #1. This version can be found on Eric Clapton's "Crossroads Guitar Festival 2023". 'Counties And Countries' of Jon Anderson & The Band Geeks is number two, followed by DeWolff's 'Natural Woman'. David Gilmour's 'A Single Spark' and Walter Trout's 'Heaven Or Hell' are the two highest new entries at place 8 and 10 respectively. 'Never Underestimate A Gal' (Beth Hart), 'Floating On A Moment' (Beth Gibbons), and 'A Story Never Told' (Opeth) have reached the top 10. Linkin Park's 'The Emptiness Machine' is back in there as well.

Album of the Week is Kevin Sonny Gullage's "Go Be Free". 25-year old New Orleans, Louisiana based artist Sonny Gullage is taking the blues and soul world by storm with his impassioned singing, dynamic songwriting, and dazzling keyboard playing. His church upbringing remains bedrock to who he is as a person and a musician. He earned his bones as a blues musician while performing at B.B. King's Blues Club in New Orleans. On 'Worried About The Young' Sonny got help by Christone "Kingfish" Ingram. The title track is already charted. Have a listen!

More accolades for Crossroad Overdrive!! 🤘🤘

Så er vi nået til Metalized dezember årsliste 2024 fra old-school rockskribent Stephen Skriver aka Rocky. Han har headbanget til rock siden 60’erne, da det hed pigtrådsmusik, videre ind i 1970’erne med betonrock, doom og metal og efter mere end 50 år er Rocky galvaniseret som et rustfrit metal skjold. Han elsker rustent old-school metal fra 80’erne, episk power metal og skrigende kvindemetal bands. Rocky er legenden fra Danmarks første metal magasin Hot Rockin’ i start 80’erne og har skrevet for Metalized siden 2011. Igen en mega lang liste med meget heavy snak, men nu har du juleferie, så du har tid. Rock den jul og heavy nytår til alle læsere fra Stephen Rocky!

110% rustfri britisk stål! Wooooow for en sangstemme Metal God Rob Halford (73 år) stadig har. Det er mesterligt Panic Attack metal plus en overbevisende stålsikker koncert i Royal Arena med metalpræsterne.

2. Powerwolf – Wake Up The Wicked
De tyske varulve vækker nye power metal blodsudgydelser til live. Ved et stort interview jeg havde i Metalized i årets løb lovede Falk Maria Schlegel – ham på det flammende kirkeorgel - at Powerwolf spiller i Danmark til næste år. Så glæd dig til power metal fest på Copenhell i juni 2025, hvor PW sætter ild til Reffen.

3. Aries Descendant– From The Ashes Of Deceit
Vores danske multimusiker og superproducer Nicklas Sonne mestrer både sang, guitar og bas i episk bandprojekt med hårdtslående mesterligt metal for sjælen. Det er overbevisende og internationalt.

4. Timeless Fairytale– A Story To Tell
Utrolig flot neoklassisk prog rock med danske Henrik Brokmann i front og en fremragende italiensk guitarhelt Luca Sellitto, der siden ungdommen har elsket Royal Hunt lyden. Et overraskende fedt debutalbum med dygtige musikere.

5. Visions of Atlantis– Pirates II – Armada
Bølgerne går højt på det storskrydende symfoniske piratskib fra Østrig med Clémentine Delauney og Michele Guaitoli som syngende kaptajner. VOA sætter sejl i stormombrust havvand med sikker kurs på endnu et fremragende power metal pirateventyr.

6. Xandria– Universal Tales
Symfonisk metal af højeste klasse med en imponerende sangstemme fra Ambre Vourvahis. Hun omfavner lytteren i Xandrias flotte melodiske univers. Der er sikkert et nyt album på vej i 2025.

7. Pectora– Twilight Knights
Danske Pectora har slebet sværdet og har siden udgivelsen været power metal riddere på korstog for den klassiske heavy metal. Hold øje med Søren Weiss og hans brave riddere i Pectora.

8. Blue Oyster Cult– 50th Anniversary Live - Third Night
Ja, jeg ved det godt. Det er gammelfar old-school 70’er beton rock, men det mystiske New York band BÖC har altid fascineret mig. Her spiller de gamle "Godzilla" mænd efter mere end 50 år deres 3. album Secret Treaties i fuld længde. Det er heavy metal historie og var midt første album med BÖC i 1974. Siden har jeg været en del af kulten.

9. Crossroad Overdrive– Crossroad Overdrive
Crossroad Overdrive er Danmarks fænomenale blues-heavy-rockguitarist Martin Jepsen Andersen og hans dygtige søn Magnus Jepsen Andersen, der sammen høvler nogle fede guitarsoloer af og sætter 380 Volt strøm til en samling af ’mine’ gamle ynglings rocksange fra min ungdom. Jeg har alle numrene på rigtige lp’er, og Crossroad Overdrive giver dem et heavy rock cover af nyt liv med respekt for originalen. What’s not to like!

10. HammerFall– Avenge The Fallen
De slår hårdt de trofaste svenske heavy metal fakkelbærere med deres smittende metal hymner. Selvom det lyder som noget, de har lavet før, så er det godt at få Hector’s hammer i hovedet med tonsvis af legacy metal. Tjek deres nye musikvideo "Freedom", hvor der er besøg af Rocky lige efter guitarsoloen... just saying!

Det gamle 70’er beton rock band har sjældent lydt bedre på et album siden dengang. Det er groovy gyngende morfar heavy, der rocker på forfriskende vis.

Powerfyldt melodisk metalpopfusion med masser af energi .

Burning Witches – The Spell Of the Skull + Mirror Mirror
Mine Schweizer piger har kastet et par nye heftige metal besværgelse ud inden nytåret ringer ind. Det tegner til flere besværgelser på et nyt album i 2025. Jeg anmelder!

Elvellon – Ascending in Syngergy
Mesterligt symfonisk metal hvor drømme forenes i metallisk kraft.

Pirate Queen – Ghosts

We just heard the terrible news that our longtime friend and artist Eli Fletcher has passed. We are shocked, beyond sad and at a loss for words at this point. Not only was he an amazing and creative artist, but he was also Cleveland’s only real superhero, “saving the city one song at a time.” We love you, Eli. Rest in peace.
