FROM THE PAGES TO THE SCREEN
As a follow-up to the article “Arthouse on the Range” by Sean O’Neal published in Texas Monthly magazine last November, the Bosque Film Society was featured in a segment on tonight's episode of Texas Monthly presents The Story titled "A New Lens" on the PBS network’s KERA affiliate out of Dallas/Fort Worth.
Throughout the segment, numerous Clifton businesses and local residents are featured as well.
“The segment is based on my article about a small-town film society that operates out of the oldest movie theater in the state, and all the fascinating and inspiring folks who run it,” said O’Neal, who narrates the segment. “I wanted to find an indisputably Texas town, preferably small and rural, where people genuinely loved film. And to my great fortune, I stumbled across the Bosque Film Society.”
“As the founder and board president, I am proud and honored that our group of film buffs are being recognized, and I'm excited about the publicity it brings to our home, the historic Cliftex Theatre,” said Clifton Record Tribune publisher and owner Brett Voss of the longest continuously operating movie house in Texas, the 11th longest in the United States and 16th worldwide, owned and operated by Richard and Megan Majors.
“But in fact, it was almost surreal. Sean’s last several articles had featured the likes of Jesse Plemons, Matthew McConnaughey and Oliver Stone. Suddenly, we found ourselves on the same pages as these film icons. It was hard for me to wrap my head around that. Watching this segment had much the same effect.”
