💕Sometimes the right opportunity comes back around when you’re finally ready to say yes.

A huge thank you to Audrey Duval Nunley for inadvertently giving me the push I needed to move forward with my interview with Voyage Michigan. I’d been approached before, but for whatever reason, the timing never felt quite right.

This time, it did.

After everything I’ve experienced over the past year, sharing my story feels different. It’s vulnerable, but it also feels purposeful. If even one person reads it while navigating their own season of loss, uncertainty, rebuilding, or simply trying to figure out what comes next, I hope they see a reminder that life can change dramatically and you can still keep moving forward.

Sometimes telling your story isn’t about having everything figured out. It’s about honoring how far you’ve come while you’re still becoming.

💔 This one is devastating. Dolly Parton was someone I truly looked up to.

She showed us that you could be glamorous, intelligent, funny, kind, business savvy and completely unapologetic about who you are. Beyond the rhinestones and incredible talent was an extraordinarily generous woman who used her success to make a difference.

There are celebrities you admire, and then there are people who inspire how you want to move through the world. Dolly was one of those people for me.

The world feels a little less sparkly today. Rest beautifully, Dolly.

💔Watching Boodles on Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares is honestly heartbreaking for me.

It holds so many memories from another chapter of my life. My ex and I used to celebrate our anniversary there, Ruthanna knew my ex’s mom, and Bruno would always stop by our table. He was so warm and kind, and those small moments are what I remember most.

Seeing the restaurant struggling now, especially Bruno at a point where he should be able to retire after everything he’s built, is really sad.

One thing that surprised me was Kevin. I honestly don’t remember him from all my years going there. It’s strange seeing a place I knew so well portrayed in a way that feels both familiar and completely different.

I’m really rooting for Bruno, Ruthanna, and Boodles. Here’s a photo of me from 2011, when things were good.

💕 I know that He is preparing the life I’ve worked for.

Labor Day marks one year since my life hit bottom. In the span of six months, I grieved the loss of four friends, lost my job without notice, faced an unemployment journey I’m still navigating and lost my home.

And losing my HOME hit differently.

Home was the one place where I felt happy. Confident. Safe. It was mine. And suddenly, it wasn’t.

Over the past several months, I’ve worked diligently to reclaim pieces of what was physically and mentally taken from me. Some days that has looked like rebuilding. Other days, simply surviving. But through all of it, I’ve kept going.

So here’s me wearing one of the outfits that made it out of the biohazard house. I’ve decided I’ll wear it once I land my next job.

Not if I get one. When.

Because I have to believe there’s a reason I made it through a year I never thought I’d have to survive.

And I know He is preparing me for the life I’ve worked so hard for.

Advocating for the underserved students at Academy of the Americas in Southwest Detroit to participate in Salmon in the Classroom. My hope was that the program not only sparked an interest in science but also helped students who may not always feel seen or heard come out of their shells, build confidence, and discover new ways to learn.
