A GoFund Me page has been set up to raise funds for the children of Sampson County resident Barbara Brewington who was killed in dog attack.

Barbara’s sister started the GoFund Me page stating:

“In memory of my beautiful sister I would like to start a go fund me page for her precious children. If you knew Barbara, you knew what real love was. She was a ray of sunshine on a rainy day. She was the laughter in any room. You wont meet a person who would tell you any different. Being a mother was her calling. She loved her children more than life itself. There is nothing that can bring her back to us but I would love to be able to give back to her family. If you cant donate anything, just keep us lifted up in your prayers. Thank you. ❤️”

Please pray for this family and consider making a donation.

Rep. William Brisson Announces Decision Not to Seek Reelection to the North Carolina House of
Representatives

After twenty years of representing the people of District 22 in the North Carolina House of Representatives, Representative William Brisson announced today that he will not seek reelection when his current term concludes.

“Serving the people of District 22 has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” said Rep. Brisson. “This is where I grew up, where my family put down roots, and where neighbors still look out for one another. Every day in Raleigh, I tried to carry the voices and values of our small towns, farms, and communities with me.”

Since first being elected in 2006, Brisson has focused on strengthening rural North Carolina — supporting local schools, expanding access to healthcare, improving roads and broadband, and protecting the state’s agricultural heritage. Over two decades, he worked closely with farmers, educators, and local leaders to bring investment and opportunity to the region.

“This decision wasn’t made lightly,” Brisson continued. “After a lot of prayer, reflection, and long talks with my family, I know it’s the right time to step back and let a new generation of leaders serve. But I’ll never stop working to make life better for the people of this district — this will always be home.”

Brisson will continue serving the remainder of his term, which concludes in December 2026. He expressed deep gratitude to the residents of Bladen and Sampson Counties for their trust and support through the years.

“Thank you for allowing me to represent you — to stand up for our farmers, our small towns, and our families. It’s been the privilege of a lifetime, and I’m proud of all we’ve accomplished together,” Brisson said.
