We received a very special birthday message all the way from Moldova đź’›
It’s from a young lady named Ulizana, who wanted to send a heartfelt message to “Dad” — Philip Cameron — for his birthday.
For decades, Philip and Chrissie Cameron have been rescuing and restoring the lives of orphans. For many of these young people, they had never known the love of a family… yet they found one, and began calling them Mom and Dad.
If you’ve partnered with Orphans Hands or attended one of our events, you may already know Ulizana. But today, we want to share her powerful story.
Ulizana spent the first 10 years of her life in a tuberculosis hospital, not because she was sick, but because it was the only place that would take her as a baby. During those years, she wasn’t even called by her real name. The staff gave her another name , “Cristina”, and that’s who she became because they didn't care.
She didn’t dream of toys or bicycles. She dreamed of something much deeper… a family.
At 10 years old, a woman came to the hospital and told her, “I am your mother, and you have three sisters.” For a moment, it felt like her dream was finally coming true. But that hope was short-lived. She was taken and placed into a crowded orphanage of over 500 children, where her sisters also lived, but in a different section. For the next 6 years, she was once again alone.
When Ulizana met Philip and Chrissie, she carried deep hurt and anger. She didn’t trust people. She didn’t understand family. And she couldn’t comprehend why anyone — especially people from another country — would care about her.
But one phrase changed everything:
“If you are born, God has a plan.”
They told her the choice was hers, to accept help or walk away and find another path. Knowing she had nowhere else to go, Ulizana made a decision that day to change her life.
And what God has done since is incredible.
Ulizana graduated, built a successful career in music and media, and today, she is the creative force behind the videos, photos, and stories you see from Orphans Hands. Every piece of media carries her heart and her story.
She is now married to an amazing young man named Victor, and together they help share the stories of thousands of lives that have been rescued and transformed.
We are so thankful that God led Ulizana to Orphans Hands… and even more grateful for how He is now using her to impact so many others.
Happy Birthday, Dad ❤️
