TORNADO WARNING FOR ROOSEVELT CO.

This is in the South East area of the county. If you are in this area take cover. It is headed East.

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
Southeastern Roosevelt County in east central New Mexico...

* Until 400 PM MDT.

* At 337 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a
tornado was located near Lingo, or 26 miles south of Portales,
moving southeast at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught
without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or
destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows and vehicles will
occur. Tree damage is likely.

* Locations impacted include...
Causey and Lingo.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built
building away from windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home,
or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect
yourself from flying debris.

Good evening Clovis and Curry County. There is a severe thunderstorm in Roosevelt County that is moving to the northeast. Currently the storm is producing 60 mph winds and half dollar size hail (1.25 inch). Now is the time to prepare. Secure loose items outside and move indoors.

This means conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes in and around the area.

* Dust Storm Warning for...
Curry County in east central New Mexico...
East Central De Baca County in east central New Mexico...
Quay County in east central New Mexico...
Northern Roosevelt County in east central New Mexico...

* Until 630 PM MDT.

* At 332 PM MDT, an area of blowing dust was located over most of
Quay County progressing eastward toward northern Roosevelt and
Curry Counties.

HAZARD...Less than a quarter mile visibility with damaging
winds in excess of 60 mph.

SOURCE...Satellite observations.

IMPACT...Dangerous life-threatening travel.

* Locations impacted include...
Clovis, Tucumcari, Quay, Texico, Logan, Melrose, San Jon, Grady,
House and Ragland.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 309 and 373.
Highway 60 between Mile Markers 336 and 397.
State Road 104 between Mile Markers 99 and 105.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not drive into a dust storm. PULL ASIDE STAY ALIVE!

Dust storms lead to dangerous driving conditions with visibility
reduced to near zero. If driving, avoid dust storms if possible. If
caught in one, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your
foot off the brake.

HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM TO 5 PM MST TUESDAY. HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM MST THIS EVENING. The high wind warning for Monday will bring southwest to west winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 70 mph. The high wind warning for Tuesday will bring northwest winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph expected. The area impacted includes: Curry County, Quay County, Roosevelt County, Far Northeast Highlands, Harding County, and Chaves County Plains. For the first High Wind Warning, until 7 PM MST this evening. For the second High Wind Warning, from 9 AM to 5 PM MST Tuesday. Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Areas of blowing dust may reduce visibility to below one-quarter mile at times, especially around Chaves County, including the Roswell Relief Route and parts of U.S. 285.
