I love watching the smiling faces parade single-file into the ceremony. The excitement is palpable as the graduates take their seats. I can't help but chuckle when I notice "Hi Mom!" pinned to the top of one hat or "Done!" on another in pink duck...

Let’s talk about the electric bus mandate Gov Hochul has put in place.

We are supposed to be 100% zero emission by 2035. This is a prime example of reckless government pushing an agenda that does not match reality on the ground.

Wayne County does not have the grid infrastructure to support such a mandate.

The cost of the buses is exponentially higher than fossil fuel buses. The state would reimburse the cost of each bus over 12 years…will the batteries survive 12 years? Will this schedule leave our district in even more financial strain?

How reliable are these buses in extreme weather? We had a mild winter this year, but that will not always be the case. Is there a chance we
can leave kids and drivers stranded? And what about long rides bringing kids to athletic games/meets or to field trips. Will the buses have enough battery life to get there and back safely? If not will they have a place to plug in. Will the schools be forced to not attend long trips to these athletic events or will the children suffer by not being able to go to field trips?

As locally elected representatives, school
board members have a voice to support OR OPPOSE a mandate that will hinder public education and the welfare of students.

The electric bus mandate is such a case. I will speak out and advocate for more sensible priorities in the CSCS.

What is a priority in Albany is not the same as what is a priority in smaller districts such as Clyde Savannah.
