Announcement from the Jefferson Historical Society:

Due to the high likelihood of steady rain and possible thunderstorms on Saturday, our gravestone cleaning workshop will be moved to Sunday.

We’ll meet at Judd Hall (163 Main Street) at 10 a.m. From there, we’ll walk to the Old Jefferson Cemetery, located just north of Main Street. The cemetery isn't accessible by car.

If you arrive late, look for the yellow sign a couple of doors west of the Heartbreak Hotel. From there, follow the mowed walking path north to reach the cemetery.

Our first priority is to work on stones of Revolutionary War veterans, then we will move on to others in this historic cemetery.

Anyone is welcome to participate. There is no fee to do so.

💧 If you’re able, please bring a jug or two of water to help with the cleaning.

President, Jefferson

STATEMENT FROM GOVERNOR KATHY HOCHUL

I am outraged by this morning’s ICE raids in Cato and Fulton, where more than 40 adults were seized—including parents of at least a dozen children at risk of returning from school to an empty house.

I’ve made it clear: New York will work with the federal government to secure our borders and deport violent criminals, but we will never stand for masked ICE agents separating families and abandoning children.

Today’s raids will not make New York safer. What they did was shatter hard-working families who are simply trying to build a life here, just like millions of immigrants before them.

These actions fly in the face of New York’s values. As Governor, I will always stand against this cruelty.
