Today’s chapter of Bloomwoods story is being called “The Jeep appointment that wasn’t an appointment” 🤦🏻‍♀️

The plan was simple. Take my Jeep about 40 minutes down the road for an appointment I made THREE WEEKS ago. New key fob programmed (I lost my original one that’s a story in itself), get an oil change, and have them listen to the fan that sounds like it’s running high while they already had it in the shop.

Easy, right?

We dropped the Jeep off early this morning and headed back to Newport. After volunteering at Bread Basket, doing some errands, and a whole lot of driving around all while grandbaby was in tow, it was suddenly late afternoon and we realized we still hadn’t heard anything about the Jeep.

We tried calling. Couldn’t get anybody.
Since we were already nearby, we went back to the dealership.

….. And there sat my Jeep.
Exactly where we had left it 7 hours ago!

Apparently, according to them, my three-week-old “appointment” was actually just an appointment to DROP OFF the Jeep. Whether they actually had time to work on it that day was apparently a completely different matter.

Which is interesting because that morning they had asked if we wanted to wait for it or leave it.

At that point I was done. 😡

John went inside and told them we wanted the Jeep back. Forget the oil change. Forget the fan. Forget everything. We weren’t leaving it there for days waiting for them to maybe get around to it. And btw give us the key fob we already paid for. Now I’m needing to figure out who can program this thing for me.

Oh, and somewhere in all of this, my WeatherTech bug guard cracked and flew off my Jeep on the highway. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Because apparently the Jeep Quest needed one final plot twist.

Did I accomplish anything on the property today?

Absolutely not.

Tomorrow, the woodland can have me back because the outside world at times annoys the crap outta me.

High 90s and brutal sun are really testing our garden resilience right now. How are your plants holding up in this heat wave?

🌞 Good Morning from Bloomwood Garden ☕️

I got up before the sun this morning and found my little toad neighbor still sitting by my door where I see him nearly every day.

So naturally, I pulled up my patio chair with my cup of coffee, and said good morning.

A quiet morning conversation between two woodland neighbors. 🐸🌿

🌿 Part of the Bloomwood crew has officially returned from a lightning-fast Connecticut run, covering all those miles there and back in just two and a half days.

The main mission was bringing home a new landscape mower trailer for Bloomwood Lawn & Landscape, but thankfully they made room for some much more important cargo too. 😂

A few favorites of things we do miss from back home: Pizza from Hometown Pizza of Litchfield 🍕 cause we all know CT is the best at making pizza. And another important need was a gallon of real maple syrup from The Winter Winds Farm 🍁 made the long journey south with them, all the way from Connecticut to Tennesse. Now we all can’t wait to make some yummy Sunday breakfasts with it.

The crew is home, the trailer made it safely, the pizza survived the journey, and the maple syrup is officially secured.

It’s not to late to get some lettuce seeds going in my greenstalk after I’ve neglected it for two months.

Good Morning from Bloomwood ☕️

As the seasons change, some of our passions naturally take a step back, while others start finding their way back into our days.

For me, this is the time of year when the garden begins to slow down and some of the things I’ve neglected during the busy growing season start calling my name again.

📚Reading is one of those things.

This week I’m trying to make a little more room for it lately. A cup of coffee, a cozy blanket, and a few pages of a book sounds pretty darn good to me right now.

What’s something you find yourself coming back to when the seasons change?

🌙 A Rather productive day at Bloomwood

The morning began at The Forgotten Greenhouse, and before long I found myself bouncing from one little side quest to another. The kitchen demanded attention, the rabbit needed a new kingdom, the walking pad apparently felt neglected, car seats needed swapping and there were plenty of dishes waiting for me along the way.

I also finally picked up a book and started reading again, something I’ve been meaning to do for far too long. I set aside time to sneak in some snuggle time with my grandbaby.
And then my daughter appeared in the evening for coffee, bubbly and happy, and suddenly that became the best ending to the day.

So yes, quite a bit was accomplished around Bloomwood today. But I think the real treasure was remembering to notice the little magic that occurs everywhere if you look, and the mundane can be fun if you just look at it from a different perspective.
