Artist of The Week: Maurizio Lessi

With roots in the 1970s funk and disco scene, Italian artist Maurizio Lessi has spent decades immersed in electronic music. His direction shifted in the early ’80s after discovering Giorgio Moroder’s electronic sound, an influence that helped shape his own musical identity.

Today, Lessi’s sound is built around melody, atmosphere, and movement, with inspiration from artists like Yotto, Tinlicker, Above & Beyond, and MEDUZA. His studio process is constant, often beginning in the morning with melodies, fragments, or ideas collected over the years and transformed into something new.

His latest track, “My Dreams (Kudafushi Sunset),” was inspired by a longtime dream of visiting Kudafushi in the Maldives. Before arriving, he had already imagined its colors, atmosphere, and sounds through music. Once there, he realized the reality was remarkably close to what he had created.

That connection makes “My Dreams (Kudafushi Sunset)” a natural fit for sunset sessions, with an energy Lessi describes as both warm and dynamic. With more music already on the way, he continues a journey shaped by decades of experience, imagination, and a lifelong passion for music.

Artist of The Week: YAABU

After more than 12 years behind the decks, playing across different countries and club scenes, YAABU is now turning that experience into a new chapter as an artist and producer. With Spanish and Moroccan roots and a life divided between Geneva and the Canary Islands, his sound naturally reflects different cultures while keeping the dancefloor at the center of everything he creates.

His music moves between Afro House, Melodic House/Techno, and Indie Dance, blending powerful grooves, emotional melodies, and tension-driven arrangements. Inspired by artists such as Black Coffee, Adam Ten, and Solomun, YAABU avoids being defined by a single genre, focusing instead on building a recognizable energy and identity of his own.

That direction comes to life in “First Contact,” a track inspired by the mystery of an interstellar object passing through our solar system. The production brings together futuristic, cinematic atmospheres with organic percussion, Afro House influences, and strong dancefloor grooves, creating a contrast between the unknown and something deeply physical and rhythmic.

For YAABU, “First Contact” marks the beginning of a much bigger phase for the project. With more releases, collaborations, and new music already in development, he continues refining his sound and bringing more of his own identity into every track. After more than a decade as a DJ, his journey as a producer is only getting started.

Artist of The Week: Minimalistuk

Based in the United States, Minimalistuk is building his identity in the Progressive House scene with a sound that blends emotion, nostalgia, and melodic energy. His new EP, Take Me Back, scheduled for release on May 20th, 2026 via Go Trybe Records, features two tracks: “Take Me Back” and “Lose My Mind.”

The project was inspired by memories, personal growth, and the feeling of wanting to relive certain moments in life. While “Take Me Back” brings uplifting melodies and emotional tension, “Lose My Mind” explores a deeper and more hypnotic atmosphere.

Minimalistuk describes his current sound as emotional but still made for the dancefloor. His creative process usually starts with a feeling or mood first, letting the melodies naturally shape the direction of each track.

With this EP, Minimalistuk hopes listeners feel transported, whether during a late-night drive, a festival sunset, or inside a packed club. As he continues evolving in 2026, fans can expect even more melodic and immersive Progressive House releases moving forward.
