In a crowded coffee shop > let me be bold

In my daily interactions > let me be bold

In my relationships > let me be bold

In my work > let me be bold

The world tries to feed us a lot of muck that makes us starve for what only He can provide. If I can mindless scroll on my phone, read a book or work on my laptop in public, may I never be ashamed to read my Bible in those same places.

Lord, I pray I will be bold to feed from the eternal bread only you offer.

Jesus is the bread that comes down from heaven from which a man may eat and not die (John 6:50)

In this episode, I sit down with Jacilia Kennedy for a heartfelt and honest conversation about adoption, what it really looks like beyond the “yes.” Jacilia shares her family’s journey, how her children navigated the transition, and the emotional layers that come with welcoming new dynamics into a home.

But this conversation goes deeper than logistics, it’s about transformation. Jacilia opens up about how adoption didn’t just change her family, it changed her. From expectations to surrender, she shares how God reshaped her heart posture in ways she never anticipated.

Whether you’re considering adoption, walking through it, or simply longing to grow in compassion and understanding, this episode will encourage you, challenge you, and remind you that love is often refined in the stretching.

I lost my joy.
I got overwhelmed.
Decision exhausted.
Lonely.

I started to slump inward and degress more and more into a recluse.
No energy. No desire. No motivation to people.

Nothing apparent was a trigger.
No major life crisis.
No cause for the funk.
But this week it showed up anyways.

The the funk got louder. Feelings that I couldn’t snap out of started to cause tears to fall.

I was in the thick of it.

“I don’t know what’s wrong”, I said through tears to my husband as he desperately tried to help. I just wanted to feel like me again.

A pre-planned girls trip was quickly approaching, and the feelings of not wanting to go grew louder. “I wish I could just stay in bed all day” I mumbled as we saw her car pull up.

A long sigh and a deep breath as I greeted my friend and helped load her overnight bag in the trunk.

Kiss kiss. Bye-bye to the hubby’s. I put the car in drive and she immediately said “What’s wrong? Don’t lie to me I know you too well”.

“I’m just in a funk and I don’t know why. I can’t seem to snap out of it”.

“Me too”, she said.

As we made the drive to our friend who was already at the cabin, we shared our feelings and we cried.

Within minutes of arriving, our friend shared of her being in the same unknown unified funk …and the trip began.

Unbeknownst to us, God pre-ordained a girls trip where three best friends would spend time together restoring our joy, reminding us the importance of vulnerable community and proving once again of His sweet attention to the cries of our hearts.

I learned that sometimes the joys in life have to be chased. We have to seek them, make time for them and work to find them. Sometimes joy gets lost in doing life and we can easily slip into a place the enemy does his best work. In isolation.

This past week has taught me that even when life is so good, the world around me can feel so cold, and if I lean into isolation and not into joy, I can easily lose the beauty around me. But maybe equally as important, those closest to me may be in the same season and I will miss it. We will miss it.

Having a circle isn’t always the season some of find ourselves in, so if that’s you, I pray you reach out and create your own circle, because someone out there is waiting for you to call and you may just find your joy again.

What type of phone charger are you?

This morning I realized my cell phone didn’t charge last night, so I asked my hubby to plug it in while I was getting ready for work.

He went to plug my cell phone into his charger, but we have different model iPhones so his charger can’t properly charge my phone.

And it got me thinking.

Created for the same purpose, but they have different sources to use that purpose.

Could you imagine if his charger got upset that it couldn’t charge my phone?

In human terms we call that imposter syndrome.

So next time you start comparing yourself to another “charger”, remember you have your own purpose and God didn’t create you to fulfill someone else’s.

Ask God to reveal your purpose and then start charging the heck outta those you’re meant to serve.

Life isn’t guaranteed to be easy. In fact, doesn’t it feel like the closer we get to God, sometimes the more trials we face?

Of course we know this is because the enemy doesn’t spend a lot of time on those already living a life of sin. They’re on the “right” track, but those allowing sanctification in their life, whew better watch out! Jesus left the 99 for the 1, and guess who was trailing closely behind with a new target in his sight.

However, we are children of God and according to several places in The Bible, including Rom 8:17, we are co-heirs to Christ inheritance. Not as a condition, but stated as a fact. Everything is already His, but because of His love for us, He invites us to share it all with Him.

You know, on their death bed, a family member removed me from her inheritance. Taken right out of the will because she felt I didn’t call her enough. A sentiment of not being enough, echoed my whole life, was confirmed in the most hurtful and heart shattering way.

After many, many, many cries out to The Lord, He has taken that hurt and used it to bring me closer to Him, because He is my loving father. Those entrusted in my blood line are flawed, sinful and in need of a Savior just as much as I am. So it’s expected they would cause hurt in others lives.

The beauty is knowing that my Savior is perfect, loving and kind. He draws me in when His children hurt His other children. He promises to never leave me or forsake me. He says my child, I have an inheritance for you that will never be removed, needed to be earned and will never be determined by your works.

And He says that about you, too.

Life will bring us pain. Sometimes it comes stacked on top of loss from a family members death. Jesus collects those tears, wipes them away, pulls your hair out of your eyes, gently lifts your chin and loving looks you in the eyes to say “I love you, my child. I’m all you need”.

Take those deep, locked up and key thrown away hurts to Him. He wants them. He knows of them already, He is waiting for the invite to heal them. Surrender them and watch how He heals your heart.

Do you have a strained relationship in your life?

Maybe it’s with your mother or your husband or a friend.

Today at our monthly Bible study we shared about the bleeding woman and how she was isolated from her family for 12 years and by her bold and risky faith, she was healed by just touching the hymn of the garment of Jesus.

Maybe you’re in a season right now where if you could only | if they would only | and your left to surrender it all at the cross.

What should our stance be if God says no or not right now.

Jeremiah 29:11 | A verse so many of us cling to for hope, and rightfully so. It’s a feel good verse. It gives us hope knowing the Lord promises us prosperity, not be harmed, along with hope and a future. Sign me up.

But have you ever looked at verse 10? The Lord says that 70 years will pass and then He will come and fulfill His gracious promise. s e v e n t y years.

God’s plan and promises for our lives have never claimed to be without struggles, hurt, difficulties or loss.

His promises are to never leave us but to pursue us, to restore and make new. To be with us during the tough seasons and to choose us even in our unworthiness. He proved He can be trusted by going to the cross for us as sinners! As flawed people who need to be bridled in over and over and over.

Our hope is in a God who fully knows us, who desires to be in a relationship with us and who tells us we have a future and He has a plan.

So do we just live life riding the coattails of a promise, or do we take a 35,000 arial view of His word and live out the hope we have in Jesus? Are we working hard to honor The Lord and what’s He’s called you | me | us to do, or are we taking what life has thrown at us, and allowing it to keep us stuck?

Our call to action? To work hard for Him, honor Him, share the gospel and live a life pleasing to Him.

What plans has He placed on your heart?

Vs 13 says “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

Seek The Lord today and allow His promises to be the hope you cling to.
