Crews are completing Phase 2 of a forest fuel reduction project on the south side of Tubbs Hill. Work includes:
• Cutting and piling ground and ladder fuels
• Removing hazardous dead trees (snags)
• Treating approximately 13 acres
Phase 1, completed in 2025, treated 58 acres on the north side of Tubbs Hill.

Why This Work Matters:

• Public safety
• Homes & infrastructure
• Forest health & wildlife habitat
The Kootenai County FireSmart Program provides wildfire education and financial assistance through grants from the Idaho Department of Lands in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service.
