Rural businesses and nonprofits… are you making these social media mistakes? 🤔

Here are 4 mistakes to avoid (and what to do instead):

1. Basic AI content → Don’t be BORING 😜 Be YOU. Share your wins, struggles and everyday moments. That’s what makes people stop scrolling.

2. No hooks → The average person scrolls 300 feet of content daily 👀. If your post doesn’t grab attention, it gets lost. Lead with what’s in it for them.

3. Not engaging with your audience → Don’t just post and ghost. Show up in comments and DMs. Real conversations = real community. 💬

4. Posting like a surprise party → Random and inconsistent doesn’t work. ⏰ Make a plan you can stick to, you could start with 2 posts a week for 3 months, then build from there.

The good news? These mistakes are easy to fix and when you do, your social media will feel way less overwhelming and way more effective.

Earlier this month, my family and I set sail on an unforgettable Alaskan cruise. 🚢 While I scheduled a few posts for my clients (social media never truly sleeps 😉), I actually took the week OFF and it felt so good.

What inspired me most on this trip? The way Alaska celebrates its local businesses and artisans. With touches like “Made in Alaska” labels on shop windows, the Skagway Convention & Visitors Bureau and stumbling into a store with a free museum of Alaskan history in the back, it made my heart so happy. 💛

Supporting local businesses, especially in rural communities, is what I love most in my work and my travels. ✨

Here’s to shopping small, telling their stories, and keeping communities strong no matter where we are.

🌟Photo 1: The glam, the glow, the cute couple moment.

🤣 Photo 2: Me, an hour earlier with leftover pizza in the car in a fancy dress because I went straight from a client event (a liquor store with 18 tastings 🥃) to an open bar wedding.

Running a business means sometimes dinner is cold pizza on the go and your glam squad is the rearview mirror, but listen, I knew I needed something in my stomach before that open bar. 😅

We were so excited that we could join the Greene County Chamber of Commerce for the ribbon-cutting at Treehorn Farm Flowers & Books in Climax, NY! 🌸📚

This gorgeous new spot offers fresh-cut blooms, a seasonal flower CSA, a thoughtfully curated bookstore for all ages and more! What a beautiful addition to our community! 😍

I brought along my two mini assistants and they were over the moon to try edible flowers for the very first time! 🌼 & They loved the gardening pop-up book they found in the store while I couldn’t resist picking up a punny tote and a book about dahlias.

I’m back to posting so here’s to a April Photo Dump 😂🌸

Family came to visit from Florida, which meant extra laughter, late nights and lots of thrift runs (because I clearly can’t say no to a vintage hand mirror.)

Note to self: Be very specific when asking your husband to take a picture if you have a certain vision in your head..

Between client meetings, content strategy and managing all things social media, April was chaotic in the best way.

Also… 10/10 do not recommend getting an allergic reaction to poison oak the week of your 34th birthday. But hey, at least it made for an interesting one! 😵
