What our 24 hours post birth looked like! We chose not to have visitors and wanted to wait to bring our newborn home to meet our daughter. We loved the intimate moments, quietness, and presence we were able to give our son. We are filled to the brim of our experience of birth and entering postpartum. Our on-call OBGYN was a dream and our labor and delivery nurses were the real MVPs!

Yes it’s that many times.. but also, it’s not THAT long and I choose to offer on demand while he’s teething because he is in so much discomfort and I rather allow 5-10minutes of my time multiple times a day than to keep my body in fight or flight and overstimulation from his bloody murder screams from pain! Grateful for my body. Grateful for the opportunity to breastfeed this long. It also doesn’t mean that it isn’t hard and disruptive to my flow of the day. Multiple truths can coexist. And for anyone who continues to badger me that I am “spoiling him” and he’s too grown, please remember he is still 1 not 18 years old 😂 LET ME AND OTHERS LIVE!

For those who related to what was in “in quotes” and type of dialogue, I hope what I say to my girl gives you a consensual virtual hug to your inner child because you deserved to be met in love especially when an adult pushed your boundaries. This isn’t a perfect parent moment, as you see towards the end I pushed her boundaries and didn’t listen to her. That’s on me. I own that. Mistakes will happen in parenthood and that’s okay. But i want to deeply encourage for all of us take the time to repair with our littles so as they grow they won’t be the dysregulated adults like we are! Hugs to all our inner children who deserved so much more! One of the greatest opportunities in parenting is the time and space to reparent ourselves.

I (caleb) am getting ready to go back into work and i am not ready. Grateful for my four weeks plus 3 weeks of PTO, but i feel like we were just getting into a groove and i was finally getting to have some 1 on 1 time with my son. Picking up the house today because we all function better with a clean space and we haven’t had time to do much of it while surviving these past 7 weeks. I do work from home and find that I have a little more flexibility in helping out here and there but i am also pretty glued and have to be zoned in during work hours. I do however have some pretty awesome and understanding coworkers and company!Shout out to Açaí 👊 Tiff is an all star: working and stay at home mom. I am dedicated in doing better to help balance more of the domestic responsibilities.

Finally out of fourth trimester and my postpartum hemorrhoids are like HELLOO you aint getting off that easy. Sometimes theyre painful, sometimes they bleed, its itchy, and irritating. Goes to show that postpartum lasts well beyond birth and a woman’s body goes through all the things to bring life into this world.
