A trip to Portugal! By Kim Telep

This was our first international trip with our boys (ages 6 and 😎, and Lisbon was the perfect launching pad. Direct flights and warmer spring weather had us sold. From the moment we landed, it was clear the boys were full of energy and up for the adventure. 🗺️

Jet lag? What jet lag?✈️

With so much to explore, the city kept two endlessly curious and energetic boys completely entertained.😊

Lisbon was full of surprises and small wins for our family, making it one of our most special trips yet. We’re already dreaming of our next adventure…🛫

This is our favorite autumnal dressing, and although it
has a couple of steps, several can be completed in advance. If you’ve never had browned butter, it’s a revelation…You’ll want to use it in everything. Reducing apple cider yields a sweet, tangy syrup that can be drizzled over desserts as an accent, and is wonderful in savory dishes. 🍽️

Meet Marvelous Marvin! Pet of the month! 🐱🐈

Marvin is a four and a half year old male and a rescue. He was adopted from Aruba.🇦🇼

✨He originally came to us with the name Rajah. Rajah means an Indian king or prince. Although we were struck by his majestic beauty and felt that he does look like a king, we were looking for a new name to indicate his new beginning with us.

Marvin has this aloofness that makes him radiate that he is better than anyone else and we admire this extraordinary self confidence. We have had cats before, but none of them ever had that degree of self assurance. Oftentimes, when he is resting upon his “cat tree” top, it seems like he is looking down at the rest of us with a contemptuous “cat-ttitude”. He is by far our most photographed pet we have ever owned, which we suspect is contributing to his inflated ego.🐈

Pumpkins for a purpose! 🎃🔧🪛

Every pumpkin purchase helps fund this annual home-building mission 🛠️🎃

This year, the Cohasset Appalachia Service Project team is hoping to see more neighbors come out to the pumpkin patch at Wheelwright Park—not only to pick the perfect jack-o’-lantern but to support a cause that’s been deeply impacted by the past few years. 🏠🪚🗜️

Like many community programs, numbers dipped during COVID, and they are now working hard to rebuild both participation and donations. Contributions go a long way toward improving the program and, ultimately, reducing the financial burden on the volunteers who dedicate so much of their own time and resources. The group dreams of one day establishing an endowment to ensure long-term sustainability, but in the meantime, every pumpkin purchased helps keep the mission alive.

Say hello to Frank Cicchetti 👋🏻

🪑In February 2024, Frank launched Cohasset Woodworks, transforming more than two decades of woodworking passion into a full-time business.

🪵 Rooted in Community

Originally from Vermont, Frank moved to Boston in 2016 for his accounting career. A year later, he met his wife, Erin, and by 2020, the couple decided to trade city living for coastal charm. 

✨ “We fell in love with Cohasset immediately,” Frank says. Today, the couple lives in a historic home built in the 1850s just up the hill from the village with their two-year-old daughter, Brynn, and their husky mix, Norm. In a heartwarming twist, Erin’s parents also relocated from western Massachusetts to join them in Cohasset, solidifying the family’s roots in the community.

A Shared Passion, A Shared Path ⚡️🔋
For both William and Patrick, engines were more than just a curiosity—they were a calling.

🔌 William, a Scituate native, discovered his passion for motors early on while working alongside his father. That spark led him to study heavy diesel mechanics in college and eventually build a career working with engines of all kinds.

🔋Patrick grew up in Braintree and shared a similar trajectory. He studied heavy diesel mechanics at Massasoit Community College, where fate stepped in: it was there that he met William.

🛠️ The two bonded over their shared interest in engines, eventually channeling their skills and training into the specialized world of generators.

Meet Madeleine LeFevre! 👋🏻 Did you know? Over 35 million Halloween costumes are discarded yearly. That is the equivalent of 83 million plastic water bottles. ♻️ 🎃👻

For Madeleine LeFevre, Halloween has always been special—it’s her birthday. Now, as President and Founder of Green Halloween, she’s using the holiday to give back in a meaningful way. 🎃♻️

The initiative, a subcommittee of CHS’s Green Team, encourages families to donate outgrown Halloween costumes—often worn just once—so they can be recycled and shared with children who may not have access to new ones. 👻

Donation bins are placed at Osgood and Deer Hill from Nov 2 - 14, and volunteers collect, sanitize, and package each costume for use the following year. ♻️
