Following Town Manager Chris Senior’s announcement this week that he will not seek renewal of his contract, the select board met Friday afternoon on Zoom to appoint an interim town manager and also to address recent derogatory Facebook posts aimed at board members – whose character and integrity have been challenged over time – following their Oct. 28 meeting.

🏆 One of Cohasset High School’s sports coaches is receiving a big honor.

🥍 The boys’ lacrosse coach, Steve Rotondi, has been named the 2025 MIAA Boys Lacrosse Coach of the Year.

Rotondi says he is grateful to receive this award, “My first thoughts were about our team, our program, our culture and the great kids and assistant coaches I’ve been able to work with over the years. We’ve accomplished some pretty special things, and I hope to continue to do more of that moving forward.”

🎄 The annual holiday lights and decorated tree on the Common are one of Cohasset’s most cherished traditions.

However, Chair Ellen Maher told the select board this week that the facilities department – which has decorated the Common in the past – will find doing so again this year to be a challenge, based on their current workload – including Town Hall, the new library pavilion, and the schools.

🏒 Losing the final game of the season is never fun, but in some cases it can sting less knowing that the second season is right ahead, and said loss was to one of the best teams in the state.

That might have been the case Friday afternoon as the Cohasset field hockey team ended up dropping a 5-2 decision at Hingham.

🚨 BREAKING: Cohasset Town Manager Chris Senior Announces Departure

During Tuesday night’s well-attended Select Board meeting, Town Manager Chris Senior announced he will not seek renewal of his contract, marking the end of his 12 years of service to Cohasset.

Senior thanked the board and community, saying he’s “excited and grateful” for his time in the role and will help with the upcoming transition.

Select Board Chair Ellen Maher confirmed that a formal statement and transition plan will be shared soon.

The meeting also included strong public comments from residents about town governance, accessibility issues, and ongoing concerns over major town projects — signaling a pivotal moment for Cohasset’s leadership and future.

🚨 Former Cohasset Middle School teacher Jeffrey Knight changed his plea to guilty on Monday, Oct. 27, in the sexual assaults of two students a day before his trial was set to begin and was taken into custody, according to published reports.

He pleaded guilty in Norfolk Superior Court “to seven counts of aggravated indecent assault and battery of a child under 14 involving two students,” Suffolk County District Attorney Chief of Communications James Borghesani told the Cohasset Anchor.

⚽️ With the regular season winding down, the Cohasset girls soccer team celebrated their seniors Monday with a 6-1 win over Abington under the lights.

Farrah Jackson scored three goals to lead the Skippers, getting things going less than two minutes in and added a second with 25:04 to play in the first half.

🇺🇸 The Town of Cohasset will observe Veterans Day with a ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park Tuesday, Nov. 11, starting at 11 a.m. All are welcome to attend.

Along with readings and patriotic music on this meaningful day, the winners of the Deer Hill School Veterans Day essay contest will present their work. There is no guest speaker this year.

A lunch for veterans will follow the ceremony at the George H. Mealy American Legion Post #118.
