:🎁 The SSRECC Holiday Toy Drive Is Back! 🎁
The South Shore Regional Emergency Communications Center is kicking off its 12th annual toy drive to help make the season brighter for children in Hingham, Cohasset, Hull, and Norwell. The drive runs from the Friday after Thanksgiving through Dec. 23.

Donate new, unwrapped toys for kids of all ages — or gift cards for teens, who are often the hardest to shop for. Collection boxes start empty every year, and our community always fills them with generosity.

This year, dispatchers are also selling a limited-edition holiday patch (minimum $10 donation) to help purchase gift cards for older kids. Last year, patch sales raised nearly $1,500 and helped fill 130 gift bags for local families.

🧸 Drop-off locations:
• Former Hingham Police Station lobby (212 Central St.)
• New Hingham Police Station lobby (35 Essington Drive)
• Cohasset Police Station lobby (62 Elm St.)
• Gift cards may also be brought directly to the dispatch center at Town Hall

🎄 You can also donate — and meet the dispatchers — at:
• Christmas in the Square – Dec. 5
• Cohasset Holiday Stroll – Dec. 13

🎶✨ A New South Shore Holiday Tradition Begins ✨🎶
The South Shore Conservatory is bringing big Boston Pops–style magic right to our community this season.

On Sunday, Dec. 14 at 3 PM, South Shore Conservatory and the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra team up for the South Shore Holiday Pops — a family-friendly concert filled with festive favorites like Sleigh Ride, Winter Wonderland, a holiday sing-along, and even a visit from the North Pole.

Artistic Director Steve Bass says the goal is simple: create a musical moment families can look forward to year after year — without the traffic, the cost, or the chaos of heading into the city.

During an update to the select board this week, Acting Town Manager Michelle Leary reported that the fire union is now participating in the working group’s meetings and also that the idea for a substation as part of the proposed public safety facility at 135 King St. “has gone by the wayside. They’re looking toward [possibly] getting rid of the substation [as part of the project] and constructing the building solely as a police station. I’m not sure if a final decision has been made,” she said.

🏑 The Cohasset field hockey team had its deepest run in the MIAA Division 4 Tournament since 2022, when Cohasset allowed a game-tying goal in the final seconds of regulation in a 2-1 shootout loss to Manchester-Essex in the State Semifnal at Watertown.

The venue was different Thursday night, with the 2025 State Semifinals at Bridgewater-Raynham High School, the opposing team was different (No. 2 Dennis-Yarmouth, 17-5-0), but the result was similar – a heartbreaking but thrilling 4-3 loss in overtime.
